During the first 6 episodes, this was watchable. Funny at times, never hilarious though. It was a simplistic story that i kinda liked it. Easy to watch, not boring, nothing special as well. Of course, suspension of disbelief was required, i mean, who in their right mind would pay 16.000 dollars surgery for a random dog? Especially when they are not rich people? This is not a spoiler, this is the basis/foundation of this show and it was one of the dumbest and less convincing foundations of any tv show ever. Still, i didn't mind it and kept watching. These were likeable characters, even the secondary ones were likeable.
And then, the two final episodes happened. For some reason, the writers decided to ruin both of the leading characters. Ashley became a disgusting and slimy character, which no self respecting man would want by his side. And Gordon became spineless, a shell of his personality. A man without dignity and pride. Why? A lot of people are sacrificing themselves in order to maintain a toxic relationship, sad but true. And there are a lot of good movies/tv shows that are portraying this thing. Nothing wrong with that. Problem is, what happened during the last 2 episodes is totally contradictory in comparison with the events of first 6 episodes. These changes came out of nowhere, there was not a smooth transition. Ashley was a socially awkward/likeable character, Gordon was a self respecting character. Two flawed people in search of love. Viewers could empathize with them.
And suddenly, these two likeable characters were unbearable to watch.
Tv shows like this are poisonous. If you hate humanity, watch this for reaffirming your beliefs, especially the penultimate episode. If you are a normal human being though, there is no need to fill your soul with anger and detestation for men, women, younger people etc.
