Former Netflix Head of Comedy Jane Wiseman is joining Jane Featherstone and Liz Murdoch‘s Sister entertainment group in a newly created position as Head of U.S. Television. Based in Los Angeles, Wiseman will report to Cindy Holland, Sister’s Global CEO, and will lead the company’s U.S. television business, specifically focused on development and production of premium scripted series.
This is the second senior member of Holland’s executive team at Netflix, where she led original TV content for many years, that she has brought to Sister since joining the company in July. Even though A Million Little Things opened in 2018 with Boston businessman Jon Dixon (Ron Livingston) killing himself, series creator DJ Nash says his drama is about embracing what lies ahead. “I knew from the beginning how I wanted the story to end,” says Nash, who’d previously worked on comedies such as Traffic Light, Up All Night, and Growing Up Fisher. This deeply personal tale of the people impacted by Jon’s suicide — not only his wife and children, but best buds Eddie (David Giuntoli), Gary (James Roday Rodriguez), and Rome (Romany Malco) and the ones they love — launched two years after This Is Us made it cool to cry and has leaned into the feels ever since. A wry, emotional ensemble soap, the ABC series has explored mental and physical health, racism, sexual identity, addiction, and more. Despite a short delay, Young Money is officially back in the building. On Saturday night, Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne all came together at Ovo Fest in Toronto, performing for a sold-out crowd and celebrating the label that changed their lives forever. Many have been anticipating this reunion ever since Drake had to postpone the show - which was originally scheduled for August 1 - due to Covid.
However, it seemed well worth the wait, with fan videos posted on Twitter showing a screen reading, "Unfortunately, Lil Wayne had issues at the border," to the crowd's audible dismay. Thankfully, the words, "Luckily, Drake runs the border," then appeared, followed by the "Young Money" logo and a flaming background.
From there, all three musicians performed solo, with Drake and Minaj also rapping "Moment 4 Life" and "Up All Night" together and...

Birch exited the series in December for personal reasons.
Ricci will not be playing the same character, it has been revealed.

The character has been portrayed in television, film, video games and even musicals, but Wednesday has always been part of The Addams Family ensemble until now -- in her first young adult television series.
"The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy," reads the logline.
"Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore."
Tim Burton is on board as the director and EP.

Jenna Ortega has been cast in the lead role of Netflix’s “Wednesday,” a new live-action series which gives the daughter from “The Addams Family” her own young adult television series. Tim Burton is directing all eight episodes of the television series and also serves as an executive producer. The project is backed by MGM Television. Al Gough and Miles Millar are the showrunners of the series.
Netflix’s official synopsis for “Wednesday” reads: “The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Tim Burton has cast the leading lady for “Wednesday,” his upcoming live-action, comedic, coming-of-age Netflix series following the iconic “Addams Family” character Wednesday Addams.
Taking on the role of everyone’s favorite goth teen is “Jane the Virgin” and “You” alum Jenna Ortega, the streaming service said today. While Wednesday has been portrayed in television series, films, video games and even musicals, Ortega will have the honor of being the first to play the character in a solo story, rather than as part of The Addams Family ensemble.
Here’s the official description for the eight-episode YA show “Wednesday”:

Kip Moore is living to the fullest in his new song “Good Life,” his first new music since the deluxe version of his 2020 album Wild World.
“Good Life” marks a slight sonic departure for Moore, who worked with producer and co-writer Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Ashley McBryde) for the first time in his career. Some of Joyce’s more experimental rock-leaning influence is evident as Moore’s effects-laden vocals cruise along to a funky backbeat and sizzling lead guitar. “I’ve been crucified by a Baptist preacher/been face to...

Exclusive: Amazon Studios has put in development The Wives, a series adaptation of Tarryn Fisher’s bestselling novel, from writer-producer Kayla Alpert (Netflix’s Wednesday) and producer Patrick Moran.
Written and executive produced by Alpert, The Wives is described as a gripping, saucy, female-driven thriller featuring “Thursday,” a woman who is passionately in love with her husband Seth — even though he has two other wives. Seth reserves Thursdays for her and splits the rest of the week between the other two women and work. She’s never met the other wives. She doesn’t know anything about them. But when curiosity gets the best of her, and she strikes up a relationship with Seth’s youngest wife, she’ll be forced to ask herself: Who exactly is her husband, and how far will she go to find out the truth?
Moran executive produces via his overall deal with Amazon Studios.

This just in from Netflix…
Who among us has never felt like an outsider? I truly believe that most people have, at one time or another, felt odd. Maybe creepy. Kooky even. And perhaps because I was so tapped into my inner oddball, I found a deep kinship to the family of Addams.
Whether it was the classic TV series, the brilliant movies, the recent Broadway musical or even their guest appearances on Scooby Doo – every time the Addams Family was on a screen, I was watching. I loved that at every opportunity the Addams skewered so-called “normality.” Their entire existence was a middle finger (attached to a disembodied hand) to the status quo. And none was more rebellious, more avant garde and more iconic than Wednesday Addams.
Adolescence is an awful time for everyone. We’re growing hair in weird places, getting taller, breaking out, and all we want...

After coming to prominence as a sardonic folkie in the tradition of Todd Snider on albums like 2015’s In the Blazes and 2016’s Silver Tears (see that LP’s “12 Bar Blues”), Aaron Lee Tasjan, like many of his East Nashville contemporaries, has in recent years moved away from country-roots music and toward a more expansive pop-rock. 2018’s Karma For Cheap was a transitional record, swapping in electric guitars for acoustic, and folkie stoner wisdom for a more open-hearted curiosity.

Last April, Aaron Lee Tasjan was one of the artists who was invited to perform as part of Willie Nelson’s virtual “Come and Toke It” livestream, a 4-hour-20-minute musical celebration infused with a healthy amount of Thc. As part of the appearance, the East Nashville singer-songwriter got to meet and chat with his hero Nelson and then play a few songs. It should have been a triumphant occasion, but at least one unhappy viewer threatened to ruin the experience for Tasjan.

Aaron Lee Tasjan offers a personal glimpse behind the glitter on his new song “Up All Night,” a succinct slice of Elo glam-pop that finds the enigmatic Nashville songwriter opening up about his anxieties and sexuality.
“Broke up with my boyfriend to go out with my girlfriend/cause love is like…that,” Tasjan sings over ringing guitar chords and distorted synth that call to mind the best of Jeff Lynne. The song is an immersive listening experience, with Tasjan giddily guiding you on a journey through musical genres and his own vices.

The first time Connie the Hormone Monstress takes the screen in “Big Mouth,” she takes it over completely. She emerges from the shadows in a flash of lightning, as if zapped to Earth by some vengeful, horny god. As she takes in her new charge, a tiny redhead scared to death of her changing body, she grins wide enough to show her pointed teeth. Connie is a feat of smart animation before she says a word — but it’s once she opens her mouth and Maya Rudolph’s voice comes out that Connie becomes truly unforgettable.
It’s wild that “the Hormone Monstress” is the character who’s finally won Rudolph her first Emmy, but if you’ve seen even a minute of this performance, it isn’t shocking. A bathroom figures significantly in the origin stories of at least two classic One Direction songs. The first will be familiar to any fan: Songwriter and producer Savan Kotecha was sitting on the toilet in a London hotel room, when he heard his wife say, “I feel so ugly today.” The words that popped into his head would shape the chorus of One Direction’s unforgettable 2011 debut, “What Makes You Beautiful.”

Clone High, the early-2000s era-defining cult-classic animated series, is about to have its story genome extracted and spliced into a new television series vector, with MTV now set for franchise revival plans.
MTV has announced the long-awaited return of Clone High, which will manifest as an all-new small-screen series that will “re-imagine” the 2002-2003 single season original series. Auspiciously, the revival will see the return of creators Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Bill Lawrence, who will develop alongside its appointed showrunner, Erica Rivinoja, who served as a writer on the original series. Thusly, Rivinoja will co-write the pilot with Lord and Miller.
As Chris McCarthy, President of ViacomCBS Entertainment and Youth Group, expresses in a statement:

Christina Applegate stars in the new Netflix dark comedy Dead to Me, and her performance as the acerbic and brazen real estate agent Jen Harding is spectacular to watch as a fan of her work. The 47-year-old actress makes her return to acting in the series after taking a hiatus from TV (she last starred in the 2012 NBC comedy Up All Night) and pours her heart into the role; the show follows Jen as she grieves the loss of her husband with the help of her newfound friend Judy (played by Linda Cardellini) after he's killed in a hit-and-run accident. While it isn't clear if Christina is anything like the hot-headed Jen Irl, there is one element of the character's life that she identifies with - undergoing a double mastectomy.
