This is Brendan Fehr's second appearance in a movie based on a Marvel comic. The first was X-Men: First Class (2011), in which he appeared as a Communications Officer aboard a U.S. Navy ship. Kevin Bacon, who starred in "First Class", is also mentioned prominently in this film.

In the Kyln control tower. Drax is stated to be "Completely literal. Metaphors will go over his head." Drax confirms this. While planning the assault on Ronan, Drax uses the metaphor, "I think of the Sakaarans as paper people". Later, he calls Ronan "A puppet". Both of them are metaphors. He also doesn't question what Quill means when he says it's their chance "to give a sh*t".
There is a scene at the end of the closing credits: Tanaleer Tivan sits amongst his wrecked archives and is comforted by Cosmo... and mocked by Howard the Duck. The scene is followed with credits for Howard's creators.
