Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution, to paint a portrait of the man at its epicenter. The story unfolds backstage at three iconic product launches, ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac.
The three-act film was shot in sequence. The actors spent four weeks on each act, rehearsing for two weeks and then filming for two weeks. Kate Winslet said that by act 3, Michael Fassbender didn't even have his script at the rehearsals, as he had memorized all 180 pages.
My mother may be a troubled woman, but what's your excuse? That's why I'm not impressed with your story, dad.
In the second act, Steve Jobs refers to Woz as "Rain Man". The NeXT Computer introduction happened on October 12, 1988 and it would be another two months before Rain Man was released (December 16, 1988). The term "rain man" predates the Hoffman/Cruise movie and refers to a person with mysterious skills who makes things happen.
The film's title is never shown in the opening or closing credits.
