After the levity in the Fool's Gold episode, we're back to grim reality. A beloved cancer doctor is found dead in his office- both beaten and strangled. He treated patients even if they couldn't afford treatment; by all accounts he was a good and caring man. His partner, however, not so much. He comes across as a money grubbing and cold man and he duels with Brenda until the end of the show. Brenda is also dealing with the fact that her father, whose cancer treatment was evidently successful, does not seem to be getting any better. So this is a very emotional investigation for her. The side story of Sgt. Gabriel and his girlfriend is well done and interesting. The murder's solution both surprised and appalled me (as it surely was meant to do). Drug Fiend, indeed. The final scene between Brenda and the doctor is amazing.
