- Cotton, a precocious little girl, reaches out to her sister Sunny in Hollywood, calling her home for what could be the last chance to see their mother. Sunny returns home to her small Texas town of Bent Arrow to face demons she has left behind, including her estranged mother. Butch, a man searching for his soul left his life in pro football for the solemn existence of an artist. When the news breaks out that Cotton's mother has passed, the local sheriff brings her custody into question. Morgan, a local investor is trying to put life back into the town and its real estate but not without a cost to the community. Sunny, eventually arrives, finding out not only has her mother already died, but also she has been named Cotton's legal guardian as appointed by their mother's will. Unconfident and doubtful at first, Sunny decides to shut out her previous ambitions of glitz and glamour to invest in a relationship she could have with her sister. As Sunny learns more about the strength within herself, she takes notice of Butch's selflessness and will to care for Cotton. Sunny and Butch ultimately see each other for who they are and find themselves in a position to save the economically ravaged town, while filling the void of both their pasts to bear.
