Minions Stuart, Kevin, and Bob are recruited by Scarlet Overkill, a supervillain who, alongside her inventor husband Herb, hatches a plot to take over the world.
In the Roger Ebert critic review of Despicable Me 2 (2013), the phrase "therein lies the rub" is used in the first paragraph. Two years later, the line is used in the opening scenes of this movie, describing the difficulty in keeping a Boss.

The ticket prices at the Tower of London were shown in decimal currency (and were too expensive for the time). The film is set in 1968, but the UK didn't adopt a decimal currency until 1971.
There are various jokes with the Minions as the end-credits initially scroll, followed by an extended post-credits sequence in which Kevin, Stuart and Bob perform a version of The Beatles song "Revolution" and most of the characters from the movie re-appear.
