  • Warning: Spoilers
The complexity of this story-line would not be easy even for Hollywood's greatest and at times throughout the film the team actually manage to deliver a great result.

However, as a whole this is one of those movies you wouldn't watch a second time. Although it may provoke your curiosity, that's about as far as it will go and you wouldn't watch it a second time, full stop. The director certainly has a case to answer here. This movie just drags, and drags, and drags, and drags some more. Seriously, who pulls a gun on someone seemingly disposable only not to pull the trigger, when on previous occasions that same character is ruthless in executing disposables with a bullet to the head? This can be observed throughout the movie: people pointing guns at each other and for seemingly unknown/unapparent reasons not pulling the trigger, dragging the whole scene out like someone pulling gum out of their mouth in slow motion.

    Special effects: 7.5 / 10 Acting: 5.5 / 10 Director: 2 / 10 Editor: 4 /10 Audio Technicians: 4 / 10

To put it bluntly: if I were watching this on the big screen, I would ask for a refund half way through.
  • This is quite an interesting idea, about time travel and what people would use it for. But the story is paper thin and the bad people are so over the top bad that they are not in any way believable.

The main character and his daughter are so totally wrong for the parts and no lines are said in a way any normal human would talk.

So how to save this mess ? Well you could cut it down to 30 minutes, and make a short film of it. Instead we have long scenes that give nothing else than prolonging the runtime.

Nothing good to say about it then ?

Well, the actress that played the old lady were ok, and also the music.

The short glimpses of graphical effect were good enough i guess, but put in little random here and there without any real meaning behind them.

So to sum it up, i saw it so you don´t have to.
  • You can tell its going to be bad during the title screens where the director tells you about the plot with poorly chosen words on the screen.

My main criticism is that there is so little plot, there are long sequences where the director is trying to show how moody and atmospheric this world is (a world that looks exactly like a very normal modern city), but its just boring and not interesting.

The main actor was wrong for the part.

Incidentally, if you know anything about Physics and Information Theory you know that time travel is not possible as there is no past or future.
  • I can't really boast of being a major Sci-Fi buff, but still I do enjoy the occasional Sci-Fi movie every now and then. When I found "Dark By Noon" it was the movie's cover/poster that caught my attention.

I had no idea what the movie was about, nor had I ever heard about the movie prior to actually finding it. And with an ensemble of unknown actors and actresses, then chances were that it might actually be a refreshing change of pace.

But only 20 minutes into the movie, then I gave up and threw the towel into the ring out of sheer and utter boredom. This movie was so incredibly slow paced and lacked anything even remotely interest to captivate the audience.

The storyline was mundane and ludicrous at best, and it was equally slow paced as the rest of the movie.

What I saw as regards to special effects, well, let's just say at least they tried.

As for the acting, well I had initially thought that seeing entirely new faces would be good, but what I saw during the 20 minutes that I endured didn't impress me the least. Let's just say that the acting turned out to be as expected for a movie such as this.

There is no chance of me returning to finish watching "Dark By Noon", because there literally was nothing to satisfy my movie-watching-needs.

We don't get enough made-in-Ireland sci-fi ... but, having seen this, I hope we never get any more. My partner declared this "the worst film I've ever seen"; it would definitely feature in my Top 10 or even Top 5. The only likeable thing about this atrocious turkey is that it's fairly short, about 90 minutes. Other than that it's simply hateful in every respect, from the utter incomprehensibility of it all, to the unprepossessing and unsympathetic leading-man, who was in virtually every shot. I got this DVD in a bargain-bucket in my local supermarket (repackaged as 'Earth Apocalypse'); I wish I'd left it there.
  • I thought I would write this for those of you perusing IMDb to read about this film and wanted to share a few thoughts. Without any spoilers, it had many of the fine things we see today in the modern Sci-fi moview, however, without the touch. So to lay it out in a short few words, this movie was very 'raw' and needed to be fine-tuned. If it had been polished a bit, that would have raised my stars up a bit. To have made this movie become a 9 star (my highest personal rating except for the exceptional few) this movie could still have done it, but needed better screenplay and acting.

It felt like a high-school project movie.
