After Tuesday night’s live elimination of Lynnea Moorer, the Top 10 artists are left to compete for the Season 15 title on “The Voice.” Coach Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson have their all-female teams of three and two, respectively, both poised to put forward a potential winner while Blake Shelton‘s three guys hope to buck that trend of female champions. Adam Levine managed to hang on to his three artists, including DeAndre Nico who earned the Instant Save and Reagan Strange who lead the pack in Apple Music streams for the second week in a row.
Next Monday, December 3, “The Voice” Top 10 will once again perform for audience votes. On Tuesday, eight artists will be automatically declared safe based on votes and downloads while the other two will compete for the Instant Save by singing another song for a chance at being saved by live Twitter vote.

Fox has found the new man in Katie Holmes’ (fictional) life: James Tupper (Big Little Lies) has signed on to play the male lead in the network’s untitled FBI drama pilot starring Holmes, our sister site Deadline reports.
In the drama, created by Ilene Chaiken (Empire) and Melissa Scrivner-Love (Person of Interest), Holmes plays a married FBI agent whose career is nearly derailed after her affair with a prominent four-star general is exposed. Tupper will play that general, Moses Fallon, who now serves as the President’s national security advisor.

The Walking Dead won’t be around forever.
Currently in the midst of its eighth season on the airwaves, AMC’s undead juggernaut has shown signs of fatigue in recent weeks, after February’s mid-season premiere stooped to a new low on the ratings front. The reaction to “The Lost and the Damned” was similarly dire, as its 2.9 rating among that all-important demographic (18-49) really illustrates the gradual decline – both in viewer count and ratings – since season 8’s opener, “Mercy.”
So, is The Walking Dead, ahem, living on borrowed time? We know series creator and all-around comic book maestro, Robert Kirkman, has discussed the show’s inevitable finale in the past, and while appearing on ScreenJunkies News, Kirkman teased what the future may hold for Rick Grimes and the gang.

Readers first learned that "sometimes dead is better" when Stephen King's Pet Sematary was published in 1983, and they'll soon learn that morbid lesson again with Paramount Pictures' new adaptation of the heart-wrenching horror novel, which has received a 2019 theatrical release date.
Multiple sources, including Variety, report that the new Pet Sematary movie is slated for an April 19th, 2019 theatrical release from Paramount.
Variety previously revealed that Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer, the filmmakers behind 2014's Starry Eyes, have been set by Paramount to direct a new take on King's classic 1983 novel about life, death, and the boundary between the two that should never be broken.
Kolsch and Widmyer, who have also directed several key episodes of MTV's Scream TV series, will work from a screenplay by David Kajganich (writer of the upcoming Suspiria remake and 2007's The Invasion) and Matt Greenberg, who has writing credits on other King adaptations such as 1408 and Mercy.

Readers first learned that "sometimes dead is better" when Stephen King's Pet Sematary was published in 1983. The nightmare-inducing novel (perhaps King's most disturbing book and certainly one of the most haunting things I will ever experience) was first translated to the big screen by Mary Lambert in 1989, and now another rendition of King's living dead tale is in development with two directors at the helm.

Last October, The Walking Dead's seventh season debuted with one of the most-watched episodes of the entire series. Long-time fans – and even a handful of haters – tuned in to see the resolution to the "Who did Negan bludgeon?" cliffhanger, in one of those rare 21st century TV moments shared by over 15 million people at once.
After the premiere, however, the show's usually noisy buzz quieted down to something like a faint hum – which grew even softer as the winter's batch of episodes gave way to spring's bounty. That's too bad: Yes,...

Of all the possible twists in the star-crossed -overs genre, falling in love across the chain link fences dividing pro– and anti–death penalty activists is nothing if not novel. Throw in the wrench of sexual awakening, class differences, and the impending death of a parent, and you’ve got a lot of issues to handle in a single movie. The greatest triumph of “My Days of Mercy” is that it handles such heavy subject matter with grace and — mercifully — as light a touch as good taste will allow. Of course, that successful execution only goes so far in a lesbian romance about capital punishment. That’s a tough sell, no matter your politics.
Produced by stars Ellen Page and Kate Mara, along with Killer Films’ Christine Vachon, the film tells the story of a young activist named Lucy (Page) whose life is altered unimaginably by a tragedy that landed her father on death row.

Though we’re certainly not starving for Stephen King adaptations these days, we haven’t seen anything good in terms of films in quite a while. The last few (Cell, Mercy, etc.) were all fairly underwhelming and though Sony’s upcoming franchise starter The Dark Tower looks promising, the lack of marketing for the blockbuster has us feeling a bit apprehensive about how it’ll fare.
One project that’s got everyone pretty excited though is It, the remake of the popular 1990 miniseries, itself based on King’s novel of the same name. So far, all of the footage we’ve seen has been tremendously promising and going into the last half of the year, it’s by far one of 2017’s most anticipated releases. While we imagine that it’ll still be another few weeks – if not more – until the final trailer debuts, we can at least share one...

I hate to admit it, but it's true: I failed you guys last month. I don't say that because I ultimately recommended you check out a couple of stinkers in May's monthly movie preview (we'll get to that in a moment), but rather because, of the five movies I mentioned as "must-sees", I actually only saw two of them. I led last month's post with the caveat that there wasn't much of note coming out during May, but still, if I'm gonna recommend movies I should probably watch 'em too, and I vow to do so from now on. Unless I change my mind. Or run out of money. Or everyone else tells me they're bad and that I should run for the hills and avoid them forever. Point is, I'll try. Not to make excuses, but I did have a lot going on last month. I finished grad school,...

Stine's Don't Ever Get Sick at Granny's and beyond, grandmothers have been the source of unsuspecting scares, and in September, we'll see M. Night Shyamalan’s take on what can go wrong at grandma's house with The Visit. The upcoming film from the director of Signs and The Sixth Sense is teased in a new, homemade horror poster.
A Blumhouse Productions film from Universal Pictures, M. Night Shyamalan's The Visit is slated for a September 11th release. A somewhat secretive movie that Shyamalan self-financed, wrote and directed, The Visit was filmed on and near his Pennsylvania property without any big studio involvement.

A blast from the past keeps a close eye on a newly moved couple in The Gift, the directorial debut of Joel Edgerton, who also stars in the film alongside Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall, as shown in the film's first trailer. We also have a look at a new promo for Salem Season 2 and two clips from Scream Factory's upcoming Blu-ray release of Deep in the Darkness.
The Gift: "Can you really go through life having never wronged anyone? Even if you are unaware of how, or when, and even who you may have wronged....chances are there is someone out there who won't ever forget it...or you.
Simon (Jason Bateman) and Robyn (Rebecca Hall) are a young married couple whose life is going just as planned until a chance encounter with an acquaintance from Simon's high school sends their world into a harrowing tailspin. Simon doesn't recognize Gordo (Joel Edgerton) at first,...

Clarius Entertainment has acquired Us rights to Benaroya Pictures and The Genre Company’s thriller Cell starring John Cusack (upcoming Love & Mercy, Lee Daniels’ The Butler) and Oscar-nominated Samuel L. Jackson (upcoming Kingsman: The Secret Service, Django Unchained).
The film is based on the best-selling apocalyptic novel by Stephen King.
When a powerful signal is broadcast across mobile networks worldwide, cell phone users’ minds are instantly and dangerously re-programmed. Heading north through New England in search of his wife and son, Clay Riddell (Cusack) is joined by a group of survivors hoping to fend off the bloodthirsty and hyper-connected “phoners.”
Set to be a wide theatrical release later this year, Cell also stars Isabelle Fuhrman (The Hunger Games) and Golden Globe winner Stacy Keach (Nebraska, The Bourne Legacy).
The film is directed by Tod “Kip” Williams (Paranormal Activity 2). The announcement was made today by the film’s producers Michael Benaroya and Richard Saperstein.

Get ready stateside filmgoers, because the “phoners” (aka “crazies”) are coming to the Us. Stephen King fans know that the master of macabre doesn’t like using cell phones. His 2006 novel, Cell, is a cautionary tale about what can go wrong by pressing portable phones to our ears and keeping them close at hand in our pockets, and its unflinching subject matter contains flocks of murderous lunatics that would be right at home in Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later, George A. Romero’s The Crazies, or Simon Clark’s Blood Crazy.
We knew this unique King novel was getting the adaptation treatment, with King co-writing the screenplay and John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson in the lead roles, but we’re now one big step closer to seeing it on the silver screen, as Clarius Entertainment has acquired the Us rights to the movie.

Bh Tilt, Blumhouse’s very new label created to distribute the production company’s distinctly not-wide-release titles is experimenting with just how they get their films out there. We knew this was the month Blumhouse was going to drop a lot of titles that it had on the shelf onto VOD, but we didn't anticipate a large portion of them hitting today!
Under the Blumhouse Tilt banner, you can now found Bryan Bertino's Mockingbird, the Stephen King adaptation Mercy and the Joe Johnston-directed Not Safe for Work all on iTunes.
Mockingbird begins with a rather shocking depiction of violence and focuses on four characters – a husband and wife, a young woman and a guy that lives with his mother.

Blumhouse Pictures ("Insidious," "The Purge") is set to launch Bh Tilt, a venture that aims to give multi-platform releases to the smaller films it crafts for Universal Pictures says Deadline.
Blumhouse produces numerous films a year, and quite a few are movies the larger studio doesn't see as having enough mass appeal to justify the expense of a full theatrical release. As a result, this often edgy micro budget indie fare will now instead find a home on VOD platforms.
The new label begins with the "Creep" trilogy by the Duplass Brothers. The most notable inclusions are Joe Carnahan's "Stretch" and the remake of "The Town That Dreaded Sundown" which are both slated to score direct-to-digital releases next month.
Other projects on the Bh Tilt list in the near future include Bryan Bertino's "Mockingbird," the Stephen King adaptation "Mercy" and Joe Johnston's "Not Safe for Work".

Although Blumhouse releases annual lineups of profitable and widely watched genre titles (Paranormal Activity, The Purge, and the Insidious franchises), horror hounds know the production company has many projects suspended in picture purgatory. But Blumhouse announced today the launch of a new label, Bh Tilt, that will specialize in distributing these gestating fright films as non-wide release titles.
A multi-platform banner, Bh Tilt is set to distribute a number of titles horror fans have been eager to see for quite some time, including Bryan Bertino’s (2008’s The Strangers) long-awaited sophomore effort, Mockingbird, and the Chandler Riggs-starring Mercy, based on Stephen King’s 1984 short story, Gramma.
Also on the movie menu is Joe Carnahan’s Stretch, the not-yet-completed Creep trilogy from director Patrick Brice (and starring Mark Duplass), and Joe Johnston’s office invasion film, Not Safe for Work.

It’s no secret that Jason Blum and his production outlet, Blumhouse Productions, dig low budgets. It’s their nature – they’re primarily interested in horror. This is why today’s unveiling is a pivotal moment for the little-genre-that-could. Blumhouse Productions have launched a new label, Bh Tilt, with the sole purpose of enabling Blumhouse filmmakers (and whoever else wants to come and play) the potential to release their movies through a multi-platform model. This means a change to the distribution framework, allowing fans multiple options to access the latest horror smashes. Snuck into the announcement over at Deadline was a word that’ll no doubt bring much joy to Joe Carnahan: Stretch.
Produced by Jason Blum and directed by Carnahan, Stretch was given a raw deal by Universal. When it came to marketing the $5 million grit-fest, the studio pulled out. Apparently they weren’t keen to dish out...

There's no denying one of the biggest surprises all year is how crazy good Wgn America's "Salem" is. To say it's boundary pushing is a bit of an understatement. So we sat down with Stephen Lang to get the skinny on his character, Increase Mather. Read on!
Dread Central: I don’t have cable so I’ve only just managed to catch up on the last few episodes at a friend’s house. I must say, I am really impressed! The show looks and plays like a mini-movie… Is that one of the things that attracted you to take on the role?
Stephen Lang: I chose to become part of "Salem" for a number of reasons. First of all, I thought the writing was very strong; it has the correct tone, a fluid combination of contemporary and antique language which is unique and pretty hip. Also, I had a...

Salem: “Children, Be Afraid” - Sunday, June 15 at 10 Pm
Increase Mather, or rather Stephen Lang, continues to kick ass and take names in ”Children, Be Afraid.” He starts off the episode with a bang, offering to let an alcoholic leave his prison after being deemed not a witch while manually snapping the neck of another witch who has already killed herself. It’s a public display, one meant not only to shame the witch but to invoke fear in the public; this is what happens to witches, he says, and if you want to survive the trials then you better do what’s best,...

Continuing its very fruitful relationship with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions, Universal has dated three Blumhouse horror flicks for dates through 2016.
None of the films are known as of yet, and Blumhouse’s prolific approach to filmmaking means that the three slots could go to already-announced projects or films we don’t even know about yet. It’s tricky to read into something as simple as release dates, but it’s worth noting that the October 21st spot, close to Halloween, has traditionally gone to a Paranormal Activity film, but that isn’t the case in 2016, as Paramount is the distributor for that mega-successful horror franchise.
Untitled Blumhouse Horror 1 will land on September 25th, 2015. It will have to compete with animated flick Hotel Transylvania 2 and Nancy Meyer’s The Intern, a comedy which stars Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past is a fantastic addition to the X-Men series. Blumhouse Productions is best known for its horror work, having produced the Paranormal Activity and Insidious franchises, in addition to a slew of hugely successful horror flicks including Sinister, The Purge and Oculus. However, Blumhouse is beginning to step outside of that one genre, with news that it is moving forward with revenge Western In A Valley of Violence and has recruited Oculus star Karen Gillan for the lead role.
In A Valley of Violence, from writer-director Ti West (The House of the Devil, The Sacrament), centers on two sisters who run a dusty old hotel in the 1890s. When a drifter arrives, seeking revenge for the death of his best friend, the sisters are drawn into the bloody crossfire. Gillan is set to play the older sister, Ellen. (Cbr) "Oculus" director Mike Flanagan wants to play "Gerald’s Game." Deadline reports the Stephen King novel will be Flanagan’s next project, with a proposed fall start date. Flanagan wrote the script with his partner Jeff Howard. “In the tradition of 'Misery' and 'Dolores Claiborne,' 'Gerald’s Game' is one of the most intense and compelling novels I’ve ever read, and this has been a dream project for many years,” Flanagan said. “Trevor and I are very excited to help translate that experience for an audience.” King’s 1992 novel finds Gerald and his wife Jessie heading to their remote Maine cabin for a weekend of S&M fun. But, things go bad quickly as Gerald accidentally dies, leaving Jessie tied to a bed, tormented by guilt, apparitions and the voices in her head. "Gerald’s Game" joins an ever-growing list of King adaptations in the works these days.

Transcendence dives into some heady ideas, but do they make sense? KidsPickFlicks Movie Star Movie Crix Katherine McNamara (Contest) and Joel Courtney (Super 8) say it's a film worth exploring:
"To what limits should technology stretch? Transcendence does not answer this question, it merely begins to explore its possibilities. Stunning visual effects show a myriad of futuristic technologies made possible in this world including plants being brought to life with nano-technology. These phenomena were made believable by the performances of Paul Bettanny and Rebecca Hall as they saw their possibilities for healing and destruction. The Horror, the Horror!
Why isn’t there a quality, poker-themed horror movie? The title, "Poker Night: Dead Man's Hand," is a bit campy, but so are many horror movies. Imagine eight college grads uniting on a remote island for a night of boozing and strip poker. The plot writes itself. One by one, the clothing layers are removed and one by one, the players get lured from the table and slaughtered in a most grizzly fashion.
At the end, there is only one person left, and she (it has to be a she) is forced to play our killer in a poker game to the death. All you can see is the killer’s eyes behind a Yoda mask (or any other mask that terrifies you), as he deals the cards on the blood-soaked table. The girl shivers, forced to face her fears while playing the most important game of her life.

Labor Day looks like a movie for grown ups but KidsPickFlicks' Movie Star Movie Crix Joel Courtney (Super 8) and Katherine McNamara (Contest) absolutely loved it, unexpectedly finding themselves on the edge of their seats!
"Labor Day is not at all reminiscent of the relaxing holiday that gives it its title. The film is quite intense, quickly transforming from a thriller about an escaped convict to an entrapuring love story. This film pushes the emotional boundaries of both the actors and the audience ranging from love, hurt, betrayal, depression, murder, and ultimately to hope. Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin give award worthy performances as two broken people who were previously scarred by love and thought they would be alone forever but find each other instead. Also, Gattlin Griffiths did a phenomenal job and held his own with these masters of their craft as Henry, Winslet's son. We highly recommend this film.
