  • Though lower budget, I am starting to enjoy the Chris Stokes movies. Why? I have no idea but I am. Well except Stepmother 3.... Erica Mena was exceptionally horrible in that movie.

Now back to this, the lead women is beautiful, I just wish she did something different with her hair. Marques is Marques. Everyone else as the two leads, are per usual mediocre but not horrible like other z-list movies. Don't expect academy award winning acting but again not bad. The actress who plays Jasmine looks like a doctors project gone horribly wrong...I'm sorry but mama please stay off them tables. You've done enough.

Nonetheless I'm proud of Chris and Marques, they out here working, doing their thing, and leaving their legacy. Period.
  • Not bad at all/entertaining enough! Of course 'room for improvement'; however, I'm always happy to see US finally produce & navigate our own content; representation matters!💯

The various content Marques & team have put out over last 2-3 years or so, are at least 'equal'/similar(in quality & storyline+) to Lifetimes movies, and at best, culturally relevant; thus if that' 'style' or genre is your entertainment interest(even if not), why not support & help build another indie network & production team?!

Meanwhile, as a proud african american woman of faith(& as an indie myself), I will indeed support as much as I can. Bravo to all involved!

    Warning: Spoilers
Trisha (Serayah, Empire) and Jamie (Marques Houston) have been best friends since grade school - he saved her from a boy who just wouldn't leave her alone and then has always been there to rescue her, even through college and into their professional lives in marketing - but have never been anything more than friends. This changes when she starts hanging around one of their potential clients. She isn't feeling it - the guy seems creepy - but when he dies the day after one of their dates and the cops find out he was poisoned, Trish and Jamie begin to question one another. Is he stalking her? Is she playing him? And how about all the I Heart Radio references in this movie? Did they pay for them?

Director and writer Chris Stokes - who also made the Tubi originals The Assistant, The Stepmother, The Stepmother 2 and Howard High - keeps making these Tubi movies and I keep watching them. The more I watch them, the more I wonder if I should expand giallo into the urban theater? Seriously, this has pretty much all of it - red herrings, fashion, sex, past trauma - and maybe these movies have hip hop instead of Goblin. It's a theory that I've never seen anyone get into before and one worth exploring.

Oh yeah - the antagonist in this is awesome. No spoilers.
  • Best Friend is one for the many films of the post Get Out black thriller. Unfortunately, the film doesnt Typical and predictable revenge and mystery thriller that doesn't stray from the formula with an ending that comes off nonsensical and not believable. You can predict what will happen as far as the mystery death almost midway in the film and when that occurs its more a down slide after that. The acting with Marques Houston, Serayah and Blue Kimble are OK and they did what they could with a lackluster script that doesn't give its lead actors much to work with, but the film overall is average fare.
  • Watching now! Marques is suspicious to me!.Best friends can eventually catch feelings and be dangerous. He looks like a psycho in here. And where is his love intrests. I think his character is in love with her. And I thought she and the millionaire made a great couple. Yes I'm loving Chris stokes movies too. I liked Erica Mena in his movies. But so far this movie seems likeable! Gotta look up more Chris Stokes Tubi movies for a weekend binge. Marques has come a long way since his singing group days. Now him and Chris Stokes should do a series similar to Saints & Sinners,Greenleaf, Queen Sugar.
