A washed-up actor, who once played a famous superhero, attempts to revive his career by writing and starring in a Broadway play.
Edward Norton and Zach Galifianakis said they were fans of Michael Keaton and were excited to work with him on this movie. Norton listed Night Shift (1982), Mr. Mom (1983), and Beetlejuice (1988) as three of his favorite Keaton films he grew up on.

As Riggan walks back into the theater in just his underwear, you can clearly see the reflection of the cameraman's legs following him on the ticket stand to Riggan's left.
