Buffy the Vampire Slayer's real-life bands bring the music of the 1990s to life in Sunnydale's Bronze club. Bands like Sprung Monkey, Velvet Chain, and Cibo Matto added an extra layer of authenticity to the show's universe. From memorable moments with Michelle Branch to quirky tunes by Nerf Herder, music played a vital role in Buffy's storytelling.
The numerous real-life bands on Buffy the Vampire Slayer serve as a perfect time capsule for the 1990s. The series, which ran from 1997-2003, took place in the fictional town of Sunnydale, which had a club known as the Bronze. Despite the monsters roaming the town, the club attracted some great bands. While Buffy the Vampire Slayer is remembered for wonderful things, music is a vital aspect of the show that tends to get overlooked. The series even has two soundtrack albums.

Most people can’t wear a sheer dress to work or diaper-inspired shorts to a social outing. But celebrities can get away with a lot. They are exposed to the latest fashion trends. And they often do their best to stand out from the rest. This can lead to some wild style choices, especially during Fashion Month. Here are the wackiest looks spotted at Paris Fashion Week 2024.

The iconic "Believe It!" catchphrase from the English dub of Naruto should be included in the upcoming live-action movie. The dubbing of "dattebayo" to "Believe It!" was a challenging translation choice that successfully captured Naruto's character. Bringing back "Believe It!" in the live-action Naruto movie would create a nostalgic and cohesive connection for fans.
The English dub of the Naruto anime made an iconic translation mistake that the upcoming live-action movie should continue. Originally created in Japanese, the US version of the anime had the tough job of finding English equivalencies to different phrases that both made sense and fit with the animated mouth movements. This led to a repeated line throughout Naruto that audiences either love or hate—no in between. Now, as the series is being remade into a Lionsgate movie, Naruto's iconic catchphrase can also be adapted.

Keanu Reeves has opened up about his admiration for Interpol and Kim Gordon in the latest episode of Amoeba Records’ “What’s in My Bag?” YouTube series.
Reeves’ band Dogstar — which recently reunited for the first time in two decades with their album Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees — perused the Hollywood, California record store for vinyl of their choice, and broke down their picks.
The bassist-actor’s first vinyl was a massive special edition of Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, as performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. “One of the joys of going to a record store is discovery, but also like there’s things in life… Aren’t there things in life you’ve heard about but never experienced?” beamed Reeves.
His second pick was Interpol’s 2022 LP. “Big fan of this band, Interpol,” Reeves said, while flipping the vinyl to admire its artwork.

The smallest decisions can alter music history forever. Cher’s hit “Believe” includes a vocal effect that revolutionized the industry. Cher discussed the sound of the song and what she was thinking when she created it.
Cher said young people don’t understand the importance of ‘Believe’
“Believe” was one of the most prominent dance songs of the 1990s. Its main legacy was popularizing the pitch correction software Auto-Tune. During a 2023 interview with The New York Times, Cher was asked if she expected “Believe” to change music.
“No, of course not,” she said. “We were just trying to fix a problem. The other day, [singer] Alexander [Roachford] was telling me that sometimes, when someone can’t sing all that well, they use it. That was something I didn’t really know.”
Cher was asked if she liked being associated with Auto-Tune. “Are you kidding?” she replied. “I love it. I mean, young...

Singer Cher has put out her first ever festive LP titled ‘Christmas’ and includes collaborations with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Buble, and Cyndi Lauper. She isn’t concerned about how well the record sells as she just knows she’s very proud of it.
“Even if no one ever listened to it, or no one ever bought it, it’s still one of the best albums I’ve ever made and I would be proud,” she told Britain’s Ok! magazine.
The album features covers of classic tracks and some new uptempo tracks because Cher was determined to keep things upbeat, reports aceshowbiz.com.
She said: “There are only two sad songs on the album. It’s not your mother’s Christmas album, you know? I didn’t want to sing ‘Silent Night’ or all the songs that had been sung in better ways by better singers than me.

Some classic rock stars take a while to do the obvious. Cher released her first Christmas album in 2023 during an inappropriate time of the year. The “If I Can Turn Back Time” singer discussed what it was like to make a record at this stage in her life.
Cher gave us country songs before she gave us Christmas songs
Cher has released albums of every flavor. She’s done folk, disco, hair metal, Edm, and country music. She covered tunes by Abba, Bob Dylan, and Miley Cyrus. However, never put out a Yuletide record until 2023, when her album Christmas showed up on store shelves.
During a 2023 interview with The New York Times, the Goddess of Pop was asked why she never released a holiday record before. “I just didn’t want to,” she said. “I didn’t know how I would fit into it. I didn’t know how Christmas...

Cher has joined the crop of fellow artists who’ve made their distaste for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame abundantly clear, saying in a recent interview that the folks behind the organization “can just go you-know-what themselves.”
The pop legend was a guest on a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, during which host Clarkson pointed out that Cher has No. 1 hits spanning seven decades — a milestone she shares only with The Rolling Stones.
“It took four of them to be one of me,” Cher said with a laugh. “And I’m not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! You know what, I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars. I’m not kidding you. I was about to say something else — I was about to say I’m not shitting you. I’m never changing my mind. They can just go you-know-what themselves.

Singer Cher says it’s “ridiculous” how her partner came into her life when she wasn’t looking for a relationship. The ‘Believe’ hitmaker, 77, was not looking for love when the 37-year-old music executive came into her life, reports.
She told : “It took me completely by surprise. I mean, it was ridiculous. I wasn’t looking for it at all. It just happened.”
She was blown away when her partner presented her with a diamond ring last Christmas.
Cher said: “Christmas morning, he gave me a bag and it had these beautiful handmade books and a beautiful pen-just amazing!
“And then he went, ‘Oh, wait, I forgot this one.’ And I opened it up and there was the most amazing diamond ring I’ye ever seen.”
Cher recently said she has a “great” time with A.E.
However, the ‘Turn Back Time’ hitmaker admitted their 40-year age gap is sometimes highlighted in their discussions.

Cher has some thoughts about not being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The 77-yaer-old “Believe” icon has a solid-gold discography filled with hits. In fact, she recently became the only solo artist to notch No. 1 singles across seven decades (the only other act to manage the feat is The Rolling Stones).
While celebrating her newest achievement, Cher opened up about being overlooked by the Rock Hall and if she would accept an induction at this point in her career.

Christmas movies are one of the most beloved genres in cinema history with every film fan having their own select favorite that they watch and rewatch every year. However, while the genre is treasured, the Oscars haven’t rewarded it as much as you might think or hope. There are several movies, however, that have found their way into Oscars lineups. We’ve detailed just five of those Christmas movies that have managed Oscar nominations or wins.
By the way, “The Apartment” is not included on this list (but might be in a future article). The Billy Wilder movie won five Academy Awards including Best Picture (1961) but there seems to be debate around whether it actually qualifies as a Christmas movie or not. It’s set during the holiday period, but some feel that isn’t enough for it to be an out-and-out Christmas movie. Perhaps that’s one for our forums.

Can there be any lingering doubt about who truly holds the Queen of Christmas crown? Brenda Lee has returned to the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” 65 years after the song’s 1958 recording.
The chart-topper sees the singer once known as Little Miss Dynamite breaking at least several Billboard records, including the longest wait between a song’s release and reaching #1, and the longest span between an artist’s #1 hits. At 78, Lee becomes the oldest person to ever top the chart, a record previously held by Louis Armstrong, who was 62 when “Hello, Dolly” peaked in 1964.
Just 13 when she recorded what would become one of the most beloved and enduring holiday classics, Lee has been celebrating the song’s 65th anniversary with a flurry of activity: Last month she appeared in the song’s first-ever video, featuring cameos by country stars Tanya Tucker and...

Tuesday night during “The Playoffs Premiere” on NBC’s “The Voice,” Niall Horan had the difficult decision of cutting his six-person team down to only three aspiring singers. “The Voice” season 24 kicks into high gear on Tuesday, November 21 when the four teams led by veteran coaches John Legend and Gwen Stefani as well as reigning champion Niall Horan and first-timer Reba McEntire enter The Playoffs. After the blind auditions, battle rounds and three-way knockouts, the coaches have narrowed their teams down to five and will add a sixth who is yet-to-be-revealed as a wild card pick.
As of now, Team Niall consists of four four-chair turns: Huntley, Nini Iris and Alexa Wildish, all of whom he won over in the blinds, and Mara Justine, whom he stole from John in the knockouts; and Claudia B., a three-chair turn that he stole from John in the battles and then saved in the knockouts.

It may surprise some that Cher isn’t a big fan of Cher.
During a recent interview with Paper magazine, published online Thursday, the Grammy-winning singer admitted that she “just never liked my voice that much.”
“If I had my choice, I probably would have another one, but I didn’t get my choice. I got my mother’s voice,” she said.
Though Cher may not be the biggest fan of herself, she has millions of other fans who are happy to claim that title. After getting her start in the ‘60s as one-half of the pop duo Sonny & Cher, she eventually headed out on a solo career, which resulted in several chart-topping hits.
When asked how she would want her voice to be different, the Oscar-winning actress explained, “I don’t know, it’s weird. It doesn’t sound like a man, it doesn’t sound like a woman.

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” made a surprise appearance on the theatrical release calendar this October and has already become the second-highest grossing concert documentary ever, drawing in fans who wanted to re-experience her Eras Tour in movie form and those who weren’t able to catch this summer’s concert. But while “The Eras Tour” movie still isn’t the top music doc (yet), it’s something of an outlier when it comes to just how much it’s made at the box office — $178 million and counting.
Several other big-name musicians and bands have released documentaries about their tours or certain albums, but the only ones to come close to the success of “The Eras Tour” include Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber, so far. Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” tour documentary, slated for a Dec. 1 release, could further shake up the stats and the box office.

Stripped of a handful of tracks filled with contemporary signifiers, Cher’s Christmas could have been released at any point in the singer’s nearly six-decade career. Whether it be a faithful rendition of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” featuring the original queen of Christmas, Darlene Love, or the ingratiating original song “Christmas Ain’t Christmas Without You,” the majority of the album’s 13 tracks opt for a traditional holiday approach.
It’s when Cher and frequent collaborator Mark Taylor steer the project toward the long-dated dance-pop of the pair’s late-’90s smash “Believe” that the sleigh goes off the rails. For one, the album’s paint-by-numbers opening track, “DJ Play a Christmas Song,” is marred by a rudimentary hook—“DJ, play a Christmas song/I wanna be dancing all night long”—and gratuitous Auto-Tune and half-step key change. And the similarly pitched “Angels in the Snow” is only...

Jessie Ware deserves to be a bigger star, and she knows it. “Sell out next time, Los Angeles,” the U.K. singer joked to the giddy, surprisingly multigenerational crowd at the Hollywood Palladium on Monday night, one of a few times during her hour-and-a-half-long set that she gently ribbed her audience.
No matter. The night felt like the best kind of secret party. Specifically, one taking place in an imaginary club called the Pearl circa 1979. Emerging in a billowing bright red kaftan that looked one part Donna Summer and one part Stevie Nicks, Ware leaned hard into the disco-funk of her most recent albums, 2020’s What’s Your Pleasure? and this year’s That! Feels Good!, and nodding only briefly to the elegantly restrained R&b and blue-eyed soul that she built her name on starting with 2012’s Devotion. Animator Hayao Miyazaki has tried to retire a total of four times to date, and it seems that his most recent attempt may be as successful as those that came before it. While promoting Miyazaki’s newest movie “The Boy and the Heron” at the Toronto International Film Festival, Studio Ghibli’s Junichi Nishioka told reporters, “Other people say that this might be his last film, but he doesn’t feel that way at all.”
Nishioka added, “He is currently working on ideas for a new film. He comes into his office every day and does that. This time, he’s not going to announce his retirement at all. He’s continuing working just as he has always done.”
Miyazaki first announced his intention to retire back in 1997 following the release of “Princess Mononoke.” Those plans fell through, and the animator didn’t bring up the possibility again until 2001, after “Spirited Away” came out.

When the Writers Guild of America released its Aug. 17 report on “The New Gatekeepers” — naming Disney, Netflix and Amazon — it took aim at anti-competitive practices, consolidation in Hollywood and called for additional oversight for streaming platforms that are allegedly stifling creativity.
All of this has roots in the negated Paramount Decrees from 1948. TV episodes banned for weird reasons now have a special place in television history, thanks to their availability online and their bestowed notoriety. Controversial episodes like "Mister Rogers Talks About Conflict" and "Home" were banned due to their disturbing content, despite good intentions and near-perfect execution. Certain TV episodes like "Electric Soldier Porygon" and "Puerto Rican Day" were banned for specific reasons, such as causing seizures or being deemed racist.
TV episodes that were banned for weird reasons are easier to find now more than ever. It's ironic because television episodes get banned specifically to limit or completely prevent their exposure to the public. This is typically due to the episode's content being deemed too distasteful, offensive, weird, or simply inappropriate for target demographics. From the network that airs the show and the studio that produces it, to government, political, and religious organizations, a number of entities have the power...

Eric Bauza is proud to be a role model for the Filipino community.
The prolific voice actor recently won an Emmy for his work voicing Bugs Bunny, which was the first time the character has ever received the honour.
Reflecting on the moment, Bauza admitted he was as surprised as anyone to Et Canada’s Carlos Bustamante.
“It’s strange to know that in 83 years of Bugs Bunny’s existence, this is the first time anyone has ever received an individual achievement award for performing the character. Not even Mel Blanc who created the character,” he shared. “Obviously, I’m pretty sure at that time maybe the Emmys weren’t around, but he never even received a post-mortem Emmy in memory of.”
