An adaptation of the fairy tale about a monstrous-looking prince and a young woman who fall in love.
Once upon a time, in the hidden heart of France, a handsome young prince lived in a beautiful castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was selfish and unkind. He taxed the village to fill his castle with the most beautiful ...
We're told at the beginning that many years had passed since the Prince and the palace servants were cursed. Apparently, they were not aging in their Beast / objects forms, respectively, because Chip remained a little boy. However, the villagers were inevitably aging during all these years, meaning that Mr. Potts, Chip's father and Mrs. Potts's husband, must have become significantly older than his wife - actually, it makes no sense that he was still alive and just past his middle age by the time the main action started. The same is true for Mrs. Cogsworth, too.
The Walt Disney Pictures logo features the Prince's castle (with Villeneuve village in the background) in the evening before his masquerade party starts. A rosebush appears near the castle and the Enchantress picks a rose from it, leading into the opening.
