Quick Links Espionage Is A Core Part Of James Bond The Next Bond Should Be A Change Of Pace 007 Shouldn't Be Just Another Action Franchise Bond Needs Better Villains Although the post-Dalton Bond era has alternated between great and generic stories, it's hard to deny that, overall, the Daniel Craig era was solid. Skyfall and Casino Royale are both remembered as some great, classic Bond. It is worth noting that, unlike previous 007 movies, the Craig films are a self-contained series independent of the overall franchise, whereas the prior movies had a somewhat looser continuity. With rumors that Christopher Nolan may be in the running to make 007 movies, this could signal a move into a more elaborate style of Bond.

Popularly known as the internet’s ‘daddy’, Pedro Pascal has recently been one of the most popular faces in the industry. He has been a part of several renowned films and TV shows. Before attaining such popularity, the actor had also seen his fair share of struggle in his early days when he did not have money to even pay his rent. However, Buffy the Vampire Slayer played a key role during that time and saved his career.

The original comic ending of Kingsman saw Eggsy saving celebrities, which was not adapted in the film. The movie changed the plot to influencers figures instead of celebrities, missing a pivotal final comic scene. Altering the final scene diminished Eggsy's wish-fulfillment moment in the film, contrasted to the comic.
Between Kingsman’s film and comic universes, the series’ main protagonist, Eggsy, is put through the wringer as he tries to stop a threat that could kill millions, ultimately going on to save the world in an expected over-the-top manner. Yet the final scene in the comic was vastly different from what was in the movie, and thanks to Kingsman's overly expensive nature, the scene was instead replaced by a controversial one that didn’t service the story at all.

Hal Jordan will debut in the DCu in Max's Lanterns series. Bradley Cooper, James Marsden, Glen Powell and other actors are ideal for the Green Lantern. Hal Jordan will be accompanied by John Stewart in Lanterns.
Hal Jordan will be part of the new DC Universe, and some actors could help make the Green Lantern one of the most beloved characters of the rebooted universe. Hal Jordan's only live-action role so far came in 2011's Green Lantern, which featured Ryan Reynolds as Hal. While the actor delivered a serviceable turn as the character, Green Lantern was far from the success it should have been, not making good on the character and the franchise's potential. After a weekend with the Oscars sharing the spotlight with the best one-two punch at the box office since July, the VOD and Netflix current home viewing charts lag in importance. “Argylle” (Universal) had a good launch on PVOD and “Damsel,” the kind of far-removed from awards thoughts Netflix original film, clicked with users immediately. Both bits of news are so below the radar that they have little relevance to how things stand in the industry.
“Argylle” — which Apple reportedly acquired for $200 million from “Kingsman” creator Matthew Vaughn and then released theatrically through Universal (with a gross of under $45 million) — came out on PVOD (for $19.99 rental) two weeks earlier than Apple’s earlier “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Napoleon.” And significantly, in doing so, delayed when their streaming subscribers gain access to it.

Winning an Oscar is one of the most significant achievements for anyone in the film industry. Actors dream of it and many directors make films with the prestigious award in mind. Like many things, however, the golden statue means the world to some and is insignificant to many. While some spend their entire lives looking forward to the day that they might win this trophy, many do win but do not hold much sentimentality to them.
Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting
Many actors have won the award but no longer have the trophy in their possession. Then there are those who simply lost it. It would seem that it is quite common for celebrities to not know the whereabouts of their Oscars after winning them. One would assume the reason for the misplacement to be simple, however, it would seem that the tales are probably as interesting as the...

While Marvel has won many hearts and box office records, the studio has rarely been the favorite of award shows such as the Oscars and Golden Globes. These awards are mostly reserved for films that go beyond genre tropes and have elements of arthouse. Marvel’s Black Panther is the only film that was nominated for Best Picture.
However, the prestigious Saturn Awards have constantly honored the franchise as they focus on sci-fi, horror, and fantasy genres. Marvel has dominated the Saturn Awards for Best Comic-to-Movie Film category, which is widely regarded as the ‘Oscars for Superheroes’. Ever since it was established in 2013, only one DC film has had the honor of receiving the award, and it is not Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel.

There’re countless moments throughout Tiago Teixeira’s feature debut Custom that play like Barker, Nakata or early Cronenberg. Haunting, sexy, deeply disturbing stuff. Icky, sticky seediness, grained-up and stamped onto videotape, like The Ring made for OnlyFans. Deeply dour, but in a good way.
A micro-budget stab at tackling the nefarious underbelly of online sex work, Custom is – much like Teixeira’s shorts (FrightFest alums Dog Skin and Molar in particular) – a mood piece; more interested and involved with its world and themes than its characters. Although it must be said that leads Abigail Hardingham (Nina Forever) and Rowan Polonski (Kingsman) get thoroughly stuck in as artsy couple Harriet and Jasper; amateur pornographers who find themselves tangled up in a bizarre, VHS-themed nightmare, courtesy of their newest client.

When the George Lucas science fiction epic Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope took the world by storm in 1977, it starred a relatively unknown Mark Hamill in the lead role of a young Luke Skywalker. Hamill may not have been the established performer and voice actor that he is now with credits including Batman: The Killing Joke, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and Mike Flanagan's Netflix series The Fall of the House of Usher, but he was about to be put on everyone's radar. After the success of the game-changing epic, talks were immediately turning toward a sequel, and Hamill was all set to reprise his star-turning role as Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. But sometimes things don't go according to plan, and after a harrowing single-car accident on January 11, 1977 in California, Hamill was lucky to be involved in the sequel at all.

The Kingsman franchise can expand in multiple eras due to its origins and story The Kings Man story reveals important historical events involving the beginning of the Kingsman as a group. The impact of key characters like Orlando and Conrad shape the formation of the Kingsman organization.
Kingsman stretches potentially across a century of adventures and stories, due to the in-universe origins of the group. Based on the Millarworld comic series The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, the cinematic version of the group was introduced in Matthew Vaughn's 2014 film Kingsman: The Secret Service. Although that film was fairly self-contained, it opened up a world of colorful violence, deadly espionage, and the forces pulling at the society of the 20th and 21st centuries that have been explored across multiple films.
The earliest establishing events for the organization occurred a full century before the events of the first film.

Do you know the truth behind the identity of Agent Argylle? Matthew Vaughn's action rom-com for Apple starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sam Rockwell first debuted in theaters on February 2, 2024, but the film is already going to be available to watch at home just over a month later. Centered around a reclusive, cat-loving author named Elly Conway (Howard), the woman finds herself at the center of an espionage thriller right out of the novels she's written when a real-life spy named Aidan (Rockwell) realizes that her books reflect the actions of an actual spy organization. The film itself has been extremely polarizing, with the majority of critics disliking the picture, although /Film's own Ethan Anderton aligned with the majority of audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and liked it quite a bit!

Argylle, directed by Matthew Vaughn, is a fast-paced action thriller starring Bryce Dallas Howard and filled with plot twists. The movie will be available for digital release on March 5 in the U.S. and Canada, with a global release on Apple TV+ to follow. Argylle boasts a star-studded cast, including Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Argylle is being digitally released only a month after it debuted in theaters. Directed by Matthew Vaughn, the action thriller saw an introverted spy novelist, Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), thrust into real-life espionage in a story filled with plot twists and Vaughn's highly stylized action sequences. Argylle, which cost an estimated $200 million, has been in theaters for a full month. By the end of its fifth weekend, the movie's domestic total is projected to reach $43.8M, far below its $200M budget. The movie will almost definitely fail to reach its roughly $400 million break-even point, which could compromise promised follow-ups in the franchise.
The Argylle box office is still struggling after a month in theaters. The spy comedy stars Henry Cavill as the titular, and fictional, Agent Argylle, a character invented by author Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), who gets embroiled in a globetrotting adventure of her own. The movie has a reported budget of $200 million, which means that its break-even point is likely $400 million or more. Unfortunately for the movie, although it opened at No. 1, its inauspicious $17.4 million debut was a prelude to a disappointing box office run that has so far earned $88.5 million worldwide.

However, astute fans notice the slight change in his facial features, especially between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, which turned out to be due to a car accident that nearly sidelined his career just as it took off.
Mark Hamill's accident happened after A New Hope had wrapped but before its theatrical release.

Matthew Vaughn is already deep into producing his next feature film, a caper titled “The Stuntman,” Variety has learned.
Helmed by stunt performer turned director Damien Walters, the film tells the story of two brothers who both become stuntmen.
The feature, which is currently in production, comes from Vaughn’s Marv Studios banner along with Walters’ Zebbo Productions. Last October, they shot in Hampshire, where a local newspaper reported a “1970s-style fun fair” had been installed in the village park, complete with a helter skelter and ferris wheel.

The Authority movie in James Gunn's Dcu can parody the McU's Avengers with The Americans. The Americans from the Wildstorm Authority comics harshly parodied Marvel's iconic team of heroes. The DC Universe movie can do the same thing while also inverting Marvel Studios' flagship superhero team.
The Authority is just one of the projects planned for the upcoming DC Universe movie reboot, with the first of these movies being James Gunn's Superman: Legacy. It's unknown who will direct The Authority or when it will come out, but the movie will likely adapt the team's stories from the Wildstorm Universe. This could possibly put it in direct contrast with the other Dcu entries, but there's a chance for the film to outright parody a rival studio and its superhero movies.

Kingsman's action scenes are unmatched in their punchy choreography, inventive concepts, and witty humor, injecting tension into the plot. The franchise's love for sci-fi spy gadgets is showcased in the mayhem at Poppy Land, where Harry and Eggsy infiltrate a fortified compound with bulletproof umbrellas and hidden machine guns. The Kingsman franchise sets itself apart with its stylized fights, such as Eggsy's intense battle against Gazelle, who has blades for feet, and the unforgettable four and a half minute church fight that showcases Harry's combat skills.
The stylized action of the Kingsman franchise has created some unforgettable moments in the three movies so far, and the best scenes can be enjoyed on repeat. Outstanding action movies can be enjoyed over and over again if they combine thrilling action sequences with a compelling story. Big-name action stars and humor can enhance the appeal of an action movie, but it ultimately relies on delivering high-stakes thrills. The best action movies retain their allure even after the surprises of the plot have been revealed, allowing for timeless enjoyment.
Action movies are usually great for multiple rewatches, but some hold up better than others. The action genre trades in fights, chases, and big stunts. If they are done well, none of these should lose their appeal after the first watch, so outstanding action movies can be enjoyed over and over again. However, even if a movie has great fight choreography and thrilling stunts, it also needs a compelling story to create a sense of jeopardy.

Argylle is a box-office disaster with a production cost of $200 million, but it was financed by its director and sold to Apple for the same amount. The film's box-office failure is a major disappointment for both Apple and Universal, as it was intended to be the start of a franchise. Apple's acquisition of Argylle was primarily for its streaming service, and unless the film becomes a popular digital rental, it will be a $200 million write-off for the company.

"Argylle" has received negative reviews and is underperforming at the box office, falling far short of its reported $250 million production budget. The movie's overstuffed ensemble cast is criticized for prioritizing marketing over developing proper characters for the stars. The complicated plot of "Argylle," which involves fictional and real-world characters, received criticism for having too many twists and confusing audiences about the real universe of the story.
As the movie continues to struggle at the box office, Screen Rant's own Pitch Meeting series has set its sights on Argylle. The latest blockbuster from Matthew Vaughn revolves around the author of the titular popular spy novel series as she learns her books are inadvertently predicting real-world events and puts a target on her back from an actual evil organization. Led by Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell and Henry Cavill, the movie has garnered generally negative reviews from critics and is coming...

It's back to the drawing board for Universal, as David Leitch removes himself from consideration for helming the latest entry in the Jurassic franchise.
The news was first broken by Deadline, who reported that the parting between Leitch and the studio was cordial, and mainly due to differences in creative visions for the film. Leitch had just been announced as the director for the film, as the studio indicated that the project was being fast-tracked with a Summer 2025 release. The director slot on this film is set to be one of the most coveted of the year, due to the value of the franchise, and the support the studio is putting behind it. Universal had already brought on David Koepp, a screenwriter on Steven Spielberg’s original 1993 Jurassic Park and the 1997 sequel. Koepp has also worked on films like Mission Impossible (1996), Spider-Man (2002), and two Indiana Jones films – Kingdom of the...

Matthew Vaughn reveals that Kingsman 3 won't begin production until next year due to Taron Egerton's busy schedule. The film likely won't release until 2026. The upcoming Kingsman movie will serve as the conclusion to Harry and Eggsy's story, following the pair as they team up for one last adventure.
Kingsman 3 director Matthew Vaughn addresses why the trilogy-capper is taking such a long time. After the success of the first film in 2014, Vaughn continued the story of Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Harry (Colin Firth) in Kingsman: The Golden Circle in 2017. A third film was planned, but Vaughn's next installment in the franchise was 2021's The King's Man, a prequel. Although Eggsy's third and final outing seemingly sat on the backburner for a number of years, Vaughn did recently confirm that the film's script is now well underway.

Argylle director Matthew Vaughn recently revealed that he has already re-teamed with Sam Rockwell, who played Aiden in the 2024 spy action comedy movie, on a new action movie that he has produced in secret.
Vaughn teased the untitled action movie during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Collider). "I've been producing a very, very special movie. Very excited about it. I just saw half an hour cut together. This will have the same sort of impact as Kick-Ass did. What can I say is it's a movie that is written, directed, and starring my stunt team," the director teased. "It is a film like no other movie that's ever been made and it's also got Chris Hemsworth and Sam Rockwell in it, plus some other very, very interesting cameos, and it's reinventing an action movie."
