The world of Edgewater is expanding over the next year — the Fire Country spinoff, Sheriff Country, starring Morena Baccarin as Mickey, Sharon’s (Diane Farr) previously estranged sister, is part of CBS’ 2025-2026 lineup. But fortunately, fans won’t have to wait until next year to see Mickey again. “We’re still finding how Mickey comes back into our world, but it has to be organic and tied to Sharon, but tied to a little bit all of our characters and especially Bode [Max Thieriot],” executive producer Tia Napolitano tells TV Insider. “There will be story purposes for why she’s in our world and what we’re giving her before we officially launch her for Sheriff Country Episode 1. So it’s very exciting.” As for whether we’ll meet anyone else who will be on Sheriff Country, there’s “nothing ...

Finding distribution for independently made documentaries was a hot topic of conversation at the 20th edition of the Maine-based Camden International Film Festival, which kicked off on Sept. 12.
Founder and CEO of Cinetic Media John Sloss, who sold the Christopher Reeve documentary ‘”Super/Man” to Warner Bros. Discovery for a reported $15 million out of Sundance earlier this year, admitted that finding homes for some of the most popular docs at festivals including “No Other Land” has been difficult.
About the resistance of Palestinian activists against forced displacement and settler expansion in the West Bank community of Masafer Yatta, “No Other Land” was part of the Ciff lineup. Most recently the film screened at TIFF and Telluride. The IDFA-supported doc debuted in February at the 74th edition of the Berlin Film Festival, where it won the Documentary Award and Panorama Dokumente Audience Award.

Hulu’s list of new releases for May 2024 is missing a certain amount of original series firepower. In the place of a blockbuster like The Handmaid’s Tale or Shōgun, however, is some content diversity.
The first of the month sees the premiere of four-episode British series Shardlake. This mystery drama takes place during the reign of Henry VIII and features none other than Thomas Cromwell (Sean Bean) investigating a murder. Other series of note this month include the Korean drama Uncle Samsik on May 15.
Movies are bit more interesting on Hulu in May. Teen comedy Prom Dates premieres on May 3. That will be followed by the 2023 Adam Drive film Ferrari on May 24. Before all that though is the real heavy hitter. You can watch Austin Butler’s acclaimed performance as The King in Elvis as early as May 1. Highway robbery, murderous Tudors and fancy fashion houses abound in Disney’s slate of UK productions for next year.
With a film and TV industry slightly less hampered by Hollywood strike action, Disney Plus have confirmed 2024 air dates for a bunch of UK-based series.
BAFTA-winner Sally Wainwright’s new series, Renegade Nell, has been locked in for a Spring 2024 release. Starring Louisa Harland (Orla from Derry Girls) as the titular rebel, the show finds a young woman framed for murder and inadvertently becoming the most notorious highwaywoman in 18th century England. Throw in a magical spirit played by Ted Lasso's Nick Mohammed, and we’ve got a proper fantasy action-adventure series on our hands.
Also confirmed is the second series of award-winning comedy Extraordinary, which stars Máiréad Tyers as the only non-powered person in a world full of superheroes and is arriving in “early 2024”, and a four-part adaptation of C.J. Sansom’s murder mystery series,...

Long before Bethenny Frankel began fighting for reality stars’ rights, there was “Denpa Shonen: A Life in Prizes,” a Japanese reality show that began airing in 1998.
The show starred aspiring comedian Tomoaki Hamatsu, nicknamed Nasubi. In a room by himself and naked, Nasubi had to fill out contest coupons in order to win what he needed to survive. What Nasubi didn’t realize was that his experiences were being broadcast to more than 15 million people.
