  • Warning: Spoilers
ENEMY EMPIRE is an extremely low budget post-apocalypse movie made with just a handful of characters in a bright, sun-drenched desert landscapes. As a micro budget film it looks pretty decent, with fun costumes and hints at sci-fi elements other than the setting. An alternate title for the film is FURIOUS ROAD, which gives an indication that this is a homage/rip-off of the MAD MAX franchise. I found the cool costumes the most interesting part of it, otherwise the film has a sparse and empty style. There are a few fun action scenes but very little in the way of plot or interest.

Under the premise that this is a comedy science fiction film, I would not pay too much attention to the plot. From this point of view, the movie is very entertaining.
  • OBVIOUSLY all these 4+ star "reviews" are complete garbage and obviously involved with the film directly or indirectly. It was horrific, the cinematography was the only that salvageable. At least it didn't look like it was filmed with a baby monitor. THE ACTING, if you can even call it that, was horrific. Of course the women are stronger and can easily beat up guys 2-3 times their size, typical modern-day garbage. Whomever wrote this script needs to get another job, because this was painful from start to finish. Horrific, save yourselves the time and energy, skip this.
  • The last reviewer obviously only watched the first five minutes of this film before deciding they didn't like it and shutting it off, yet decided to give it a lousy review anyways. This is NOT a "Mad Max ripoff". This may be a B movie, but it is remarkably original in its content. It has an engaging storyline which, if you watch the film for a while, really keeps you guessing as to what is really going on. There are more than a few great plot twists, as well. The acting is far above par for a B movie. If you like "post-apocalyptic road warrior movies", then you should give this one a try, as i did - and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now obviously, if all you watch are Hollywood blockbusters, then this isn't the movie for you. An interesting side note, the lead actors' voice sounds a heck of a lot like Stephen Amell, some raspy whisper-roar that he is so good at on Arrow. I gave this movie an 8 out of 10, and I hope you'll watch it and enjoy it too.
  • German distributor strikes again. Having the rights to this movie they released this in the wake of Mad Max Fury Road, calling it Furious Road. No that's not a coincidence at all. Now, watching this expecting anything of the Mad Max caliber, you'll be disappointed. This is a small budget down and dirty movie. What it does have though, is a wicked idea and completely insane "twist".

I only mean that in the best way possible. If you have a heart, not only for Science Fiction movies, but low budget movies as well, you should give this a chance. The comedy might not work every time, but it does have its fair share of genuine moments (if the setting allows for that in your mind of course). The twist might be a deal breaker for most, feeling cheated and going "what the ...", but it can also be just: alright, this movie was weird from the get go, let's just roll with it and enjoy it.
  • It's a rom-com. In a sci-fi setting. Great characters, great dialogue and jokes. Even some action. There are a bunch of these no-budget films, streaming on the free site, Tubi. There very unusual; and some have like one little moment of truth. Maybe if you watch this, you'll find that one little moment. Warning, it's not always nice.
