  • OK this was very unexpected short film that had been teased a couple of weeks ago and has finally debut on YouTube. Running just under 25 minutes and directed by Hiro Murai, "Clapping for the Wrong Reasons" captures Donald Glover as he walks around his L.A house and tries to figure stuff out from his life. It shows what a different life style of Donald Glover has from his show Community. It reveals a lot of events that occurred in his life. The title "Clapping for the Wrong Reasons" is probably taken from Catcher in the Rye when Holden Caulfield says, "People always clap for the wrong reasons." I'm thinking this is an ode to Holden and phoniness. It has a great and colourful cast with people like hot on real film, stars Daniel Fishel, rappers Trinidad Jame$ and Chance the Rapper. The short film has a very hypnotic feel to it and gives a very creepy vibe to it which makes the presentation much better. It was a well watch that is the reason I gave it a 10/10.

"Clapping for the Wrong Reasons" is a 25-minute live action short film from 2 years ago. This is describe as comedy and drama here on IMDb, but I must say it was never funny and never edge-of-the-seat stuff. Quite the opposite actually. This was like watching a scripted, black-people version of Big Brother with the people in the house being played by actors and nothing at all is happening. There are films which are very slow where it works as they succeed with character development and little action. Butg this one here has no character development. Donald Glover (from "Community") playing himself just like everybody else in here is completely boring and uninteresting. It is very fitting that, in the final scene, we see the main character lying in bad, possibly sleeping as this film should only be seen by people looking for a cure to insomnia. Absolutely not recommended and the only right reason to clap for this one is when it's finally over, so you won't have to witness any more of this massive boring garbage.
