After being struck by lightning, Barry Allen wakes up from his coma to discover he's been given the power of super speed, becoming the Flash, fighting crime in Central City.
The episode 8 of season 2 of The Flash and episode 8 of season 4 of Arrow are both crossover episodes called Legends of Today and Legends of Yesterday respectively. Its because the episodes build up to the spin off series called Legends of Tomorrow.
Dr. Harrison Wells:
Did he follow you here?
Cisco Ramon: I've seen Heat like fifty times, okay? I know how to shake a tail.
Whenever Barry uses his super speed from a standing start, there is a gust of wind that blows in the opposite direction (for instance, if he superspeeds to the left, there is an airburst that blows to the right). Engaging his super speed in this manner would cause a suction effect creating an airburst in the same direction he's moving in.
Each week's opening credits during the voiceover words "fight crime and find others like me" changes to show the previous week's metahuman encounter.
