"Plug&Play" is a French 19-minute live action short film from 2013, so this is already over five years old and here we have, despite the age, a more recent filmmaking effort by French writer and director Davy Sihali. This film is also in the French language and while I would not say that subtitles are 100% required looking at the film's contents and long sequences during which no word French is spoken, it is still recommended because early on there is some more talking going on. I cannot say anything really about the cast and I guess you have to be a massive French film buff to recognize any of them. I like French films, but I did not. Then again, often you do not even see the characters' faces, at least not for too long, but as you maybe already guessed from the photo here on imdb you see their bodies, especially female bodies that is. There are some extremely beautiful women in this film no denying. But sadly, this cannot make up for the film's weaknesses. It felt very experimental, but not really in a good way. Especially the editing was all over the place and I find it difficult to really grasp the story and what is about to happen to the owner of an apparently not really female-friendly website. There are many subjects here. I already impliyed the inclusion of the internet with the sentence about the website, but there are more precisely even social media references, especially towards the end. Other than that, thee is a lot of sex in here and this is probably in teh sense of desire the biggest subject this film has. Add to that an ounce of violence (murder perhaps even) and you get the basic message. But not the story really. I would say that this film is not a failure and there is a lot to explore here, but it just does not feel competently crafted and very much style over substance, also with how it switches back and forth on at least one occasion between super harmonic moments and really mysterious (threatening situations). But it did not elaborate properly on either. I'd say you should skip the watch and go for something else instead.
