In “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” Lucasfilm brings together George Lucas’ often-maligned prequel trilogy and his original film, closing a gap somewhat between how the Republic fell and how the Rebellion was born. But it’s not the coolest story to bridge the two sets of films. That honor belongs to a video game. “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed” isn’t considered “Star Wars” canon in any way now that Disney has taken the helm on the franchise and rebooted the decades of continuity that was built outside the films, but it still turns out some great ideas that flesh out.

A certain character who was introduced in George Lucas’ Star Wars prequels is confirmed to appear in Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It’s just a brief cameo, but it’s kind of cool to see this character return. If you don’t want the identity of this character spoiled for you, then I suggest that you not read ahead.
Jimmy Smits will reprise his role of Bail Organa in Rogue One. We previously saw the character in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The news comes from Smits himself during an appearance on The Talk. When he was confronted about fan speculation that he was spotted in the trailer for the film, he acted like he couldn’t say anything, and then he just let it out with a laugh saying:
“Can you say the word cameo? Can you say the words small part?...

There are millions of Star Wars fans out there that it's not surprising that a fan predicted the title of the new movie two years before it was announced. There's also a staggering amount of content dedicated to George Lucas's universe, from straight up fan fiction to once-approved EU material (sorry, that's all no longer canon), books, comics, and much more. Considering the sheer amount of material out there, I guess it also shouldn't be all that surprising that a 2010 video game essentially spoiled the biggest character death in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but I still can't help but be a little shocked as to how close Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 managed to come to what actually happened. (Obviously, spoilers ahead.)
Look familiar? Some of the details are different, but that image of Han with a lightsaber through his chest that caused audible gasps...

Various Star Wars movies, games and TV shows have been canned over the years. The Force was not strong with these...
The Star Wars universe is a dangerous place. For example, ‘man walks into a bar’ gags in Mos Eisley tend to end with unwarranted threats, droid racism, limbs being chopped off, impromptu deaths or – worst of all – rigorous re-editing.
Until the recent Disney buy-out, the world created by George Lucas was just as treacherous for seemingly-exciting projects. Lucasfilm/LucasArts, for a time, became notorious for the number of cancellations under its belt, with films, TV shows and game ideas constantly being chucked out at various stages of their development.
But when did the term ‘countless’ ever stop us trying to count things? Never, that’s when. So we donned a pointy-hooded robe and scoured the desert wilderness of the internet to bring you what we hope is a complete...

As geeks, we owe George Lucas a lot for creating the world of Star Wars. But lots of the later things he did with his beloved franchise have lead many of us to believe he didn't even understand the universe he had created. In the latest issue of Game Informer they report that Red Fly had been tapped to develop a video game centered around Darth Maul.
Red Fly, who had successfully developed Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 for the Wii, pushed forward with development on the Darth Maul game in 2010. The game was intended to be released on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC.
Around October 2010, things got derailed when George Lucas got involved. Via Polygon:
"According to Game Informer, Lucas wanted a 'buddy cop-like experience' with Darth Maul and Darth Talon — a Sith Lady separated by more than 170 years of Star Wars fiction from Maul — teaming up as friends.
