  • If you're expecting a true reality show, this isn't it. Although, at times it is entertaining. Alma, a heavy smoker refrains from lighting up onscreen. Heavy promotion of their restaurant.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I just finished season 1 of this reality show off Netflix, which I believe is an A&E original. "Wahlburgers" showcases in reality format similar to what's dramatized on the HBO series, "Entourage". This show, however, mostly focuses on brother Paul Wahlberg, as the head chef and manager of the family restaurant "Wahlburgers" in Boston. Their outspoken mother- Alma I think is her name?- is a big part of the show as well. This family has like 15 kids??!! WTF?? LOL And famous bros Donnie (New Kids On The Block, TV's "Blue Bloods"), and more famous Mark, show up on a regular basis. You'll also see the real "Johnny Drama", as portrayed by Kevin Dillon on "Entourage", and others who inspired characters on that show.

Overall, I enjoyed this show- found it amusing and all. Just felt- like with most reality programming- it seemed to be a bit forced, and fake, at times. Now I'd really like to see a show (reality or not) that showcases Mark Wahlberg's criminal past- complete with violence and all..now wouldn't THAT make for much more entertaining/interesting TV viewing-????
  • When the Walhburgers reality TV show first began, I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed watching the interactions between the brothers, and the genuine warmth and caring that was shown within the family members. Paul appeared to be the punching guy who took everything with a smile. However, now it seems to have gotten stale and there really isn't any kind of scenarios that can be written regarding the Wahlburg cast. Most of the recent episodes have become strained, trying to tell a story. Oh well, I guess every good thing must come to an end.
  • I honestly don't understand how people can write about how a "sibling rivalry annoys them." I'd have to ask "were you an only child?" in response. For those of us who had sisters and brothers this is right up your alley. First and foremost it's an Irish household, they recall tons of stories from the not so conventionally nuclear family of the 80's...

This series is a breath of fresh air from all the other reality type shows that are on. One thing they are real, their lives are real the things that happen to them are real.

Expressing the feelings of old and healing those feeling through some competition is the way it should be. I'm sure Mark took a beating for his brother and Donny has taken one for him...

Can't wait to see where this goes next season I recommend this series to anyone not afraid of the REAL REALITY SHOW. That's all it is, unapologetic look into the lives of the "Wahlburgers" not just the burger joint but the family itself.

Consists of the 3 famous Wahlburgs : Mark, Paul, and Donnie. With their mother, Alma. Consider letting children watching this because there is a character named Nacho, who eats anything like divots off a golf course. This is rated pg.

There are so many of these fly on the wall documentaries (or reality TV as some like to call it) past and present and to be honest, I have never liked any I have seen previously. This one however, is a breath of fresh air. It isn't in your face. It isn't over the top. In fact, I'd say it is very low key.

The key theme of the Wahlburgers is family and pretty much everyone has one in a form or other, so we can relate. For the lucky few of us, some of us have siblings and through our own experiences, we can easily relate to the antics of Donnie & Mark too.

This reality TV documentary centres around Alma and Paul. Paul runs the family restaurant business and Alma is the Hostess at Alama Nove. Paul is not only the head chef at Wahlburgers, he is the manager and entrepreneur with the backing of two of his other brothers, Mark & Donnie.

Through the series, we see the relationships they all have with each other and as mentioned, Mark & Donnie's antics which generally involve Paul being the brunt end of them.

As the series evolves, you become to love and respect this family of nine children who started out as poor as anyone and you laugh along with them and thank them for allowing you to see a small part of their lives. It is truly inspiring and a pleasure to watch.

I still cannot believe that Johnny Drama didn't get the role of himself in Entourage! :-) Funny.

Just watched the first show of season 5 and I have to say it was a disappointment... Watching Mark make his cousin/friend/lackey/trained monkey Johnny Drama go through a humiliating and embarrassing exercise in making (not making) a stupid music video just made me cringe... And then you got the 'no talent hanger on' Nacho thrown into the mix and I almost gagged... It portrays Mark as sort of a sadist to cause these two nobodies as much shame and humiliation as they can take, as long as they get to hitch to his wagon... In earlier episodes we see the ever compliant Nacho down bottles of Hot Sauce on Mark's instructions to prove that this idiot will submit to anything that Mark tells him to do... Maybe it is all in good fun but to me at least it seems in pretty bad taste.

The mother, Alma, seems like a nice enough lady, but the constant giggle after everything she says makes me want to change channels real quick, sometimes I wonder WTF is so funny... The show seems to center on son/brother Paul's fast food joint called Wahlburgers, but in the case of this episode we see the restaurant not one time... Other episodes center around the extremely wealthy Wahlbergs trying to create new locations and new sandwiches to market... It seems every time we are watching Mark we are seeing his 15 strong entourage in the background agreeing with everything he says and finding everything he says completely hilarious or the gospel... It just does not transfer well to the middle class folks who work 50 hours a week and then find themselves at odds with the bill collectors.

And I actually enjoy most of Mark's films...He seems to be a talented actor who respects his craft... Just seeing this side of him and this family and their lunatic, loyal entourage willing to make themselves look entirely childish on national TV is rather unentertaining... Could I do better ? Probably not, but then again I am not going to try to stretch a stupid joke about who mom likes best into a 100 episode reality show...If I was the producer I would most likely try to emphasize on the running of the restaurant and the hard work the employees do every day to create a pleasant and tasty dining experience... But that would probably last 3 episodes and then drown in apathy...

And now we get to watch 'Donnie loves someone or another' and his exploits in TV realism....

Reality shows are the essence of bad TV, not real at all, but scripted to make rather above normal people seem eccentric and entertaining in real life. Being told what to say and when and where to say it, and then presenting it as real life is just plain ignorant and demeaning to the millions of people who want to see the 'real' lives of successful people. Now if this is how the Wahlbergs really live and act, well I am truthfully not impressed at all................
  • ~ This show is AWESOME!! All the brothers each have their own personality& Iiiii LOVE. THAT. Alma is sweet& ferocious& funny : )

Okay, everyone take a breath. Now bow down and worship Mark Wahlburg. Kiss his ring. Stroke his ego. Tell him he is the baby and mommy's favorite child. Now let's look at his brother, Paul, who runs the family burger place. See Paul run. See Paul b&(*( about how his brothers, family, store, how much harder he works than everyone else. Give Paul some ADHD meds. Look at dumb Donnie. He doesn't do anything except make cute quips.

I've like Mark Wahlburg since his boy band days. This show has no redeeming qualities. And I've given it lots of chances. Stick to movies.
  • April 2023...I had never seen this show until now, and I love, love, love the Wahlburgs💚💚💚! Their purely genuine love of family has touched my heart and brought many tears to my eyes as I watch episode after episode 💜 Their interactions with each other as well as with close friends and fans really spotlight their BEAUTIFUL SOULS. If every family would share this kind of bond, which was certainly instilled from Alma,....the world would truly be so much better! How I wish I could meet them They are very special people who genuinely care and support each other in such a way that is inspiring to say the least. They make me want to be part of their family! I may be a bit too late to see this show, but I am so glad I did! LOVE THE WAHLBURGS.

Your family bond is what keeps me coming back each season. My mother, aka Short Stuff, is who got me to start watching the show. She asked me if I knew who the Wahlburghs were and I chuckled and said "Do you know who the Wahlburghs are?!". I have been a huge fan of the show every since. The first time I became a fan of a Wahlburgh was at my first NKOTB concert in Lake Placid and my favorite was Donnie. I love his charisma and his sense of humor. I also loved Marky Mark back in the day and have been a huge fan of Mark in his acting career, he is captivating and love and his swag. Now that I have been watching Wahlburgers I now am a huge fan of Alma, Paul, and Johnny Drama. Johnny has such a good heart and is so sincere. Paul's genuinely good heart respect for his workers makes me want to apply to a Wahlburgers or own a franchise! As for Alma, she is the QUEEN! I love her and her sense of family. As much as you all joke about her having a favorite I can see that she loves you all equally and I love how she loves her family! Honestly, my favorite part of the show is the sense of family I get and how you all don't forget where you came from. Your an amazing family and thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of it each week! Love you all!

    Sincerely,

    Tracy
  • Its disgusting how NACHO is treated like a circus clown for Marks entertainment...i have been binging this show until I just saw mark offer a reward for eating dirt and grass after golfing???who does that to another person?? That's so degrading...I thought NACHO was one of his best friends..i guess NACHO feels like that's the only way to be included??? I'm so disgusted that no one in the group has ever said anything to mark about how he treats nacho...i guess bcuz he's the golden goose??? I have no respect for mark wahlberg!°NACHO will probably die from all the outrageous stuff mark dares him to eat, for his amusement...disgusting...and studios shouldn't want to hire a person like that to make movies!!!
  • The recent Paul episodes are absolutely boring. He is not good on TV. The best episodes are about the crazy friends and family, and Donny with his warm personality are great episodes. More about that, and less about the burger restaurants and Paul.

    Bad
The Wahlberg family has graced our screens for decades, and now they're all back in this reality series focused on the new burger restaurant fronted by brother Paul Wahlberg, with heavy funding coming from other brother Donnie and of course Marky Mark himself. Built like a very expected reality tv show around a semi-famous family, almost all the interactions were heavily scripted, and Mark Wahlberg himself showing up either in a phone call or from a flight in a private jet at least once per episode. The family itself isn't all that interesting, but somehow at the end of season only nine episodes I found my self wanting for more, unfortunately it just wasn't available for streaming anywhere easily. Luckily for those who can find it, at its completion there were ten whole seasons to get through and even a spin-off Donnie Loves Jenny at one point. I would have liked to hear more about Paul and his restauranteer skills, but it didn't seem like it wanted to be that kinda show, instead focusing on mostly made up family squabbles. Maybe I'll check out the rest eventually, but for now they mostly felt like some old men on the block pretending to be kids.
