The film takes place in January of 1983, as it states that the events are around the 10 year anniversary of the Paris Peace Accords from the last movie. But Angel, drunken and distraught, is shown listening to "The Four Horsemen" by Metallica, which was from their debut album Kill 'em All, not released until July 1983.
The Marvel logo is the classic one used for the X-Men films from 2003 onwards.
