The film takes place in January of 1983, as it states that the events are around the 10 year anniversary of the Paris Peace Accords from the last movie. But Angel, drunken and distraught, is shown listening to "The Four Horsemen" by Metallica, which was from their debut album Kill 'em All, not released until July 1983.
SPOILER: The X-Films' title sequences features a weapon used by the villain, backed by the X-Men's Cerebro device. In this film it is Apocalypse's pyramid device.
