  • As a New Orleans native I implore you and the writers to walk down any street in New Orleans and talk to a LOCAL. We DO NOT eat shrimp and grits for breakfast and praline bacon isn't in our fridge. We have worked very hard to come back from Katrina and it PAINS ME that this series (which I love and watch regularly) is making us look like uneducated loud mouth pigs. Please - come uptown and take a census of LOCALS, have a LOCAL help you with the dialect!! We DO NOT talk like that unless your're from Mississippi. PLEASE! I LOVE my city and would LOVE for the series to continue and for us New Orleanians to sound like the intelligent up and coming tech community that we are! Thank you!
  • I grew up in New Orleans and I'm an avid NCIS fan, so I was interested to see how they would handle the Crescent City episodes. Overall, I think it did really well. 8 points out of 10.

A few things: 1. In episode 1, there were a few mistakes that those people who are locals could easily notice. A little bit more research would've been better, but the plot/characters/etc. was good.

    2. Bakula's ongoing "my brother, my brother" is too much. People in NOLA don't do that, if anything they say "cher" as an affectionate term for friend, so it seemed overdone on the show.

    3. A little bit hard to believe in part 2, that a woman would leave a bar to walk in a dark alley alone with someone she had just met. No local would ever do that.

    4. I liked part 2 much more than part 1, because they focused more on places the locals go to and not just the "tourist top 10 spots" like in episode 1. I also loved how they talked about the city and it gets into your DNA. Great and well scripted.

    5. Love the actors and think it could be a great series going forward :)
  • I love the NCIS shows. Entertaining characters, diverse and textured scenery. I like that the writers sometimes come up with a plot that I haven't seen or read in any variation before.

THAT BEING SAID,I must pose the question: Is it possible to write a good TV show without inserting an agenda? For instance, Persons of Interest was taken off the air after soon after a self involved individual took the focus off the "team" and their work and diverted a portion of the attention to a lesbian relationship. It sapped the strength of the program. I see the same thing happening here.

Making the characters deeper is a great idea but, really, in real life do you realize how few people per capita are homosexual? So if there are so few that interact with hetero's in real life, how does it benefit the program to force on the average viewer something that they cannot really grasp or identify with?

Thanks for your attention. This is wisdom that could make you money. Hope you hear me.

    D.
  • Different city, cast and plot lines. Quit comparing apples and oranges. What I like about this and the other franchises is that it also focuses on the individual team members - otherwise, it would be the same thing every week.
  • I love all the NCIS shows,

but the new girl on NCIS New Orleans I can do without,

don't like her at all. It's really hard to watch now,

she is taking over the show to cocky. If she stays on the show I don't think I will continue to watch.. .sorry.

Need to bring in someone that is not a know-it-all, let Pride still be in charge I really like the other cast members. Need to continue without bringing in somebody that don't fit and try to change everything. Bring back the other girl she fit in perfect with the cast, not like this girl they brought in.
  • Great cast, good stories. Love the chemistry between characters. They really make you feel the story as it unfolds.

I don't even watch the original anymore since Ziva left. I Absolutely love Scott Backula. One of my favorite actors: see Quantum Leap. Love this show and all the characters. Hate that Shalita Grant left. But still my favorite.
  • I liked this series so much at first. I'm a huge NCIS fan. The cast of this show has always been very good. My problem now is with the storylines. The show no longer deals with dead sailors or marines. It seems to be more about international terrorism and various personal problems of cast members. A big part of the time I have no idea what's supposed to be going on. I'm afraid this show jumped the shark a good while ago. It's beginning to remind me of a want to be "Burn Notice." I'm so disappointed.
  • I like it. I hope it stays. I have nothing bad to say about Gregorio. It will be interesting to see Dwayne as SAC.

Although, as of now, it is my least favorite of the NCIS series, after reading some of the comments regarding "all the hating" I can only comment:Keep your pants on and let things settle in. I think the network erred by rushing things from the get go. We're all use to the smooth interaction with Gibbs and his cohorts. Likewise with the LA gang. But most of us thought the death of Kate, played by Sasha Alexander was likely to spell 'cancelled' for the NCIS, certain that no one could step in and fill her shoes. Yet it not only survived, it flourished, with one of TV most loved characters possibly of all time: Ziva, who earned her permanent spot no later than the 3rd episode. I will admit some discord with LA and the addition of Deeks, who took somewhat longer to fit i, but they gave him a reason to be there and a reason to stay. It was not really clear for Sonja. IMO she's had to overcome the networks errors of either not giving the original group enough time to meld together themselves nor starting out with them from the beginning. Her part was dropped on us. She didn't get there very naturally. I think we/she just need to hang in there. (Although how tough is it to be the worst show of one of the best franchise of all time?) And for the record, I love the reincarnation of Sasha Alexander in Rizzoli and Isles. Kudos for showing her ability to play two very diverse characters.

December 2020 - Crime show gone to the dogs. The story is more drama and personal interaction with little actual crime. They take turns doing their acting. Plot holes abound. Question. Who wants to watch a show about COVID19

I really was glad to see this show, so I am going to have to keep focused on the review, and not the "Fan boy crap". I will get right to it, NCIS has been a solid show in the top 5 since it was first launched, and the LA version has done well with the older crowds, but there has been a lack of real darkness, and this will be the right place to look for the darkest of dark, to be more like Criminal Minds. The Bijou the swamps, and the Parishes are always fun for those of us who only go there to party, and with the success of True Detective this year this show was a forgone conclusion. Now the cast is extremely robust, packed tight with real acting heavy weights, Everyone loves Scott Bakula, and Lucas Black the kid from Sling Blade has never had a bad performance, though he has never been anyone beyond the Alabama boy that he is. CCH Pounder was the conscience of The Shield, so she will be a great Coroner. So far what they have shown us is quality, and that CBS is giving them the room they need to make quality drama. If you like NCIS, or Criminal Minds, then you will be hooked on this one as fast as you can smell the bait. This is the right time for a show of this kind to be on network TV, don't expect any language, but there should still be some nice edge.

  • Warning: Spoilers
Honestly, I enjoyed the first few series.

But then NCIS New Orleans turned into The Fast & Furious of the NCIS universe.

You know what I mean, it started OK then got a bit out of hand.

Gone are the 'grab your gear, dead sailor' plots; it turned into international espionage that only NCIS can solve, farcical plots ridiculous storylines, private submarines etc etc.

If they went back to what NCIS should be, I'm sure the audience figures wouldn't have dropped off to the degree that resulted in yet another American drama being cancelled.

Shame really, definitely the best theme tune of them all!
  • Like the show and I like this NCIS the most out of all of them. Yet, I'm really missing the character played by Lucas Black. He is charismatic on screen. A joy to watch. Scott Bakula can't carry this show with CCH. CCH is stronger and much more likable scene stealer.
  • Donald P. Bellisario does it again. Beautifully done. NCIS New Orleans makes me want to watch and see what happens next. Nice introduction and expansion of new characters as well as the expansion of existing known characters. As always doesn't disappoint with the history of characters and their development within the NCIS. I think this show displays only the best in screen writing. NCIS New Orleans really expands and broadens character area and ext. screenwriter's aspect. NCIS New Orleans is so worth any high budget external location filming endeavor. Brings us back int. to what we expect and know out of existing locations and characters. NCIS New Orleans also is developing a pretty awesome int. view aspect of a NCIS New Orleans office. While I have no idea of future intent of the producers; I'm hopeful the producers expand this show to an NCIS New Orleans full season. I want to see more.
  • Take a lousy plot and try and make up for it by making your main character a guy that loves to cook creole food and plays in a jazz band. Drop lots of street and neighborhood names and generally WAY too much "culture" and what do you get? NCIS New Orleans. Oh, and make sure you include street violence and a corrupt politician. The crooked politician and trumpeter are WAY overplayed. I'm from NOLA and I hoped this would at least be close to as good as the original NCIS. Instead it tries to play off the fame of the original and America's fascination with our unique culture to make poor writing sell. But then trying to use exaggerated cultures of various cities to sell lousy writing is an old game.

    Warning: Spoilers
My 'valued friend and confidant', Mr. Orgeron of Schriever, Lousiana sent me a message inquiring if I had seen this show yet....and it contained a subtle 'spoiler', i.e. "beignets and lemonade".....Mr. Orgeron's actions could be construed as making him a "spoiler", but, 'au contraire', he was in essence trying to spare me the 'tsuris', the grief he compassionately knew I would experience when 'enduring' this series debut...Using the 'Primetime on demand' feature of my bright house cable service, clicking on CBS, I voluntarily entered the 'house of pain'.....EGGS CREOLE, WITH ANDOUILLE AND REMOULADE SAUCE FOR BREAKFAST ?......New Orleans street gangs named DELTA CREW AND 113 ?......And the father of the homicide victim is a 'highly-esteemed' local Trumpet 'maestro' who wears suspenders, expensive suit, with tie (oh Wynton, where for art thou !) and WHO steps into the role but network televisions's most dependable 'small screen Sidney Poitier', the most dependable African-American thespian of the TV sweeps phenomenon....JAMES MC DANIEL......Steven Weber as a N.O. Councilman named HAMILTON ? Not exactly a potent political name for a "Crescent City" wheeler dealer....and the plot line, smuggling ! In New Orleans ? Now we're really stretching the imagination of the viewing audience....Scott Bakula tries hard to do a 'journeyman's job' in his role of Pride (but, me thinks, maybe tries too hard...his accent/dialectical phrases, like his 'dependable junior member' Lucas Black, remind one of the quagmire Dennis Quaid brought to "The Big Easy" when he played 'Remy' with an amalgamation of Texas, New Orleans and Bayou inflections).....I do like Lucas Black's work (he's been a pro since childhood)...Zoe Mc Lellan as the other 'junior member' is competent, "eye candy"....and the 'always brilliant' CCH POUNDER is competent, but wasted in the TAMARA TUNIE (i.e. "Law & Order: SVU" franchise) part of medical examiner....watching the credits, the second production company is "When Pigs Fly" ....pretty ominous to me....if they do anything to remedy this well-intentioned attempt, keep MARK HARMON and DONALD P. BELLASARIO 'the hell away from this series' and bring in DICK WOLFE.....cheers, ya'll

Pretty good spin off but the bloke doesn't slap people in the head enough.
  • To put this review in perspective, you should know I'm Dutch (Netherlands, Europe). English is not my native language. When I read the summary of an episode, it seems okay, maybe even interesting, but when I'm watching it, the NA accent distracts me in an uncomfortable way. To me it doesn't sound like a general "southern" accent, it feels exaggerated, like a foreigner who purposely in an unpleasant manner would characterize how Americans speak.

Especially when Lucas Black speaks, I'm so obsessed with how his mouth moves to perform those noises, that the story line disappears to the background. If there would be subtitles I'd turn off the sound.

Is this done to please the locals? Obviously not. I read the review of "household137" (s)he writes : Quote: "... and it PAINS ME that this series (which I love and watch regularly) is making us look like uneducated loud mouth pigs. Thank you!"

isn't Harry Connick Jr. from NA? He doesn't seem to have much of an accent. I really like to hear different accents; I find them interesting and I respect everyone, but IMHO in this case it's too much and it undermines the show.
  • I feel that the actors make this spin-off the show that it is. Scott Bakula is a great leader for the NCIS: New Orleans crew and Lucas Black makes the show even better knowing he is actually from Alabama. Lucas Black plays a great part and stay's to his roots of the south. A lot of people complain about this spin-off but I feel it is just as good as the original NCIS. People from New Orleans love there town and the actors of this show make it seem like they love it as well which makes the show authentic in my opinion. It's a great watch for anyone that loves New Orleans and loves NCIS.
  • I loved the show from the start but as the seasons rolled on it became the Dwayne Pride show. Filled with his unruly behavior, seeing ghosts, lying to his daughter and subordinates, and with an ego bigger than the city. I guess since he's got a hand in production and directing he has license to ruin the integrity of the Brand.

This show was so good now the writing is weak and trying overly hard to be politically correct. The show has gotten lazy and self righteous.

I loved ncis from the start. It felt natural to love this one too. I like all actors. Scott Bakula is great,CCH Pounder had this presence in every scene that I just love. She brings balance in everything whenever there is an unbalance of emotions, or need of wisdom or good advice...(Like Yoda). Everything and everyone is so wel brought to life. Too bad that Belgium is a bit behind on the seasons.
  • I'm rating this a 7 because I believe there is room for improvement in the show. I think this show is good--better than the original NCIS and the first off-shoot, NCIS: LA. I think this can be better still!

I cannot speak to dialect/accent because I have not been to NOLA or met anyone from there, but I will say I like the cast and the diversity. They are all talented actors and actresses.

As for the characters themselves, I'd love to see them develop further. I feel like I know most of them only on the surface level, but I must emphasize, I've only started watching this show recently and my interest in the show was sparked with the introduction of Tammy Gregorio, played by the amazing Vanessa Ferlito! I love her character and Vanessa too. She is the most interesting character on the show.

I really hope this show lasts longer, because I want more development.
  • Have you noticed they read their lines as if half the sentence is on a cue card and they need to wait for the next card to come up? Do you think of Joey Tribiani doing math in his head when they try to act? It's not often I dislike characters more than the WACKY! tech guy but in this lame NCIS outing, he's the least annoying. The girl with the pouty big lips as the token hot latina and the little fire plug as the token sassy black girl - how are people not up in arms over the nasty stereotyping? Those two girls gripe at every single sentence. It's truly cringe-inducing to watch them.
