Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 : Parents Guide

Sex & Nudity

Mildly frequent sexual jokes and innuendoes. No explicit references and no nudity. A woman tells a man she knows he's sexually attracted to someone. There is a brief discussion about a man's penis and "making babies". A man comments on how something irritates his nipples. There is a scene that shows some women lounging around and hanging onto men. It is implied that these women are prostitutes, but never explicitly stated. They are dressed promiscuously. The word "scrotum" is used.

Violence & Gore

Lots of violence and death in this movie, much like the first one. Some blood is shown, but no gore is ever shown. One humorous scene where people are bounced hundreds of feet in the air and dropped multiple times. If this were shown realistically, it would be disturbing. A brain is seen in one part of the film. Baby Groot is seen holding a severed toe (with some blood on it) in a humorous scene. Some characters come upon skeletons in a disturbing scene. Most violence is presented in a humorous and light-hearted tone, making it more suitable for children.

Mild language throughout. It's tamer than the first movie. Some uses of "shit", "damn", "hell", "ass", "bitch", "bastard", "dick", "douchebag", "freaking" and "fricking", from a couple to about half a dozen times. No uses of anything stronger than S**t. No "F" words are technically used in this movie, except for a brief reference/joke where a character might have implied it but it is not said and used.

In one scene a group of characters are drinking heavily and acting raucous. Groot is doused in alcohol in one scene. Alcohol is seen multiple times in one scene.

Frightening/Intense Scenes

There are a few scenes where characters are shot out into space to suffocate and freeze to death. A skeleton graveyard is revealed at one point. It is mentioned a few times that someone was threatened with being eaten as a child. Two sisters argue about their abusive father and how he made them fight as children. One daughter is resenting of the other because she always lost and was punished brutally. A few sad scenes throughout the movie, especially the final scene of the movie (not including the mid and post-credits scenes). A few of the aliens in the movie could be considered creepy looking, though for the most part, the aliens look like humans and won't scare children much. Ego is slightly scary in the final quarter of the movie. Official MPAA Rating: PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi action and violence, language, and brief suggestive content. Most of the scenes in this movie contain killing and death. One scene shows a man killing everyone on a ship. Another scene shows crew members systematically killing other crew members. There is a scene that shows a character being caged and brutally tormented for sport.
