  • Jacky St. James has been very successful of late with her series of porn videos dealing with incest, BDSM and other topics. HOTWIFE injects a new variable into her couples' equation, but I found it strained and unbelievable.

Early porn (and the soft-core exploitation films that preceded it) was often sold as "educational" to promote its legality. Jacky educated me here on an unfamiliar term "hotwifing", which if I understood the video (and its helpful BTS interviews short subject on DVD) refers to a husband bringing another man into the marital relationship (one-shot or for longer) to spice it up, drawing upon a voyeuristic impulse.

I had just watched an extremely poor Anthony Spinelli '80s video on almost the same subject SPECTATORS, where Richard Pacheco inconceivably finds his humping with wife Kay Parker (!) boring so he becomes voyeur and brings other guys (and gals) home to service her.

Jacky's take on this topic is especially harmed by using a lot of smarmy narration which (hopefully tongue-in-cheek, as I interpret nearly all of St. James' narration to be) ludicrously proclaims the benefits of these oddball threesomes, as if Don Draper were marketing some hard to sell product on the MAD MEN series. It's all phony, as is the sex depicted.

Basically, in most of the four segments a nutty husband who is cast with a truly beautiful actress who he somehow needs to share with other men in order to get off himself. Even granting this premise, my mind continually wandered off-topic, for example: what are the porn stars (like Logan Pierce) who play the hubbies in non-sex roles paid for these acting gigs, compared to their salaries for the usual sexual (plus some acting to set up a vignette) performances? Is the budget for this video bloated by expanding the cast roster almost pointlessly?

Only in the last segment does the video's inherent emphasis on voyeurism really extend to true troilism, where the wife is simultaneously serviced by both friend Xander Corvus and hubby Richie Calhoun. It's hardly a full-scale three-way, no d.p. or other athletic gyrations, but at least Calhoun gets involved = maybe scripted or perhaps spontaneous?

Underneath all the b.s. about wife sharing, this devolves into a mere case of voyeurism, where the husband is put into the p-o-v of the porn consumer, us not so mythical lonely guys out there who get off watching hot sex on screen. Like St. James's dozens of step-father, step- sister, etc. fake incest videos, we are watching the same group of actors have sex after less- than-believable setups of their relationships. I want to take these features seriously, since Jacky at least tries to provide a narrative context for her entertainment, but it is impossible to do so when the stories are so blatantly false.

Exhibit #1 is Logan Pierce married to an unbelievably beautiful British actress Ava Dalush, but he feels the need to hire a nondescript male prostitute to service her. It turns out to be superstar James Deen, but he is almost unrecognizable sporting a buzz-cut hairdo, and has no role to speak of, just humper for hire. Near the end of the half hour stint Pierce half- heartedly joins in a bit by caressing his wife, but this is hardly a three-way.

Segment 2 doesn't really belong in the video, but is off on a tangent which perhaps works better than the rest merely because it is so conventional (with a slight twist). Michael Vegas is the non-sexer. in a huge (length-wise) bathtub caressing wife Siri's famously ample (and floating here) breasts as she recounts for him a tryst she had with big-dicked Chad White. Vegas hears it and we at home see it. When this flashback ends, he announces he isn't a voyeur, doesn't want to watch her make love but enjoys hearing about it. BFD.

Third vignette stars another big-bust queen Romi Rain, married to ultra-wimp Otto Bauer, who hides behind a bookcase to watch Romi make love to an accountant from her office (just re-emphasizing Jacky's tongue-in-cheek approach), in the form of a bewildered Toni Ribas. Romi retains eye contact throughout with hubby, and of course the camera/viewer. I love watching Romi but this "Hide and Peek" segment is otherwise a drag.

Concluding Xander and Richie double-teaming segment, with Calhoun logically masturbating during much of the vignette, is spoiled by casting Sovereign Syre as the wife in question. I did not find the colorfully-moniker-ed SS appealing at all, her look resembling some of the earliest circa 1970 women who graced porn films anonymously prior to this art form taking off with the general public. Her credits are mainly on the lesbo circuit, and I don't see her graduating beyond triple-A ball to triple-X.
