  • The footage of the space shuttles in transport to museums was nice.

The footage of the space station was mostly the same footage from Space Station 3D in IMAX from 2002. Too much recycled footage. I don't understand why they don't have much ISS IMAX footage from the 13 years since.

Animations of a projected future mission and footage of testing newer equipment to be used on future missions were interesting.

Overall, I recommend it as a good inspirational film, especially if you haven't seen Space Station 3D. It's a more complete story of the current value of NASA, commercial space program, and the short term future of space exploration for the next couple of decades.

Patrick Stewart narrates a documentary of America's space exploration. The first twenty minutes is a journey to the present. The last twenty minutes is a look into the future concentrating on a mission to Mars. This is basically a commercial or a flashier version of the old industrial film. It shows the mission to Mars as something close. It's interesting to see all the work being done right now but I doubt it's that near. Also, the title should be Journey to Mars. Overall, this is interesting for NASA heads but it's a skip for everybody else.
  • If you like space related documentaries it's worth a watch. If you already watched a lot of space related documentaries this one won't be the best one but it's still worth watching. It's informative and educational, and even though I was expecting more stunning images it was still interesting. It's well shot, there are some nice scenes but it's more about the shuttle and the preparation than about the universe. Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard from the world famous series StarTrek) is the narrator, he's easy to listen to so that's also a bonus. I don't regret watching it but then again I find everything interesting about this subject.
  • For a documentary that was intended to make a sweeping overview of humanity's accomplishments in space, this sadly felt more akin to a shallow compilation.

Where I expected a thorough exploration of most of the achievements astronaut have staked there lives on, it was more akin to a jumble of subjects that didn't have a proper thematic connection. Sure, most of the subjects discussed within this documentary have their function such as for example the bit about the simulations that astronauts have to experience.

Long story short, I expected a stonger view on the missions themselves and the people involved and how their work in impacted their time for the better. It is there within the documentary but it deserved way more limelight than it did in my honest opinion. The bits about the future explorations toward Mars were very interesting though.

It works for the amount of time it takes to watch the documentary.

    6/10.
  • Warning: Spoilers
The Movie shows an overview of NASA and it's work in space exploration.

Most of the images and videos used are old ones. However it does shows and overview on making of ORION Space craft; made specially for Mars. It gives a good info about traveling and approaches to mars from earth.

The difficulties faced by the astronauts in space and the dangers they may be exposed to; the developments made in the space suit over the period. One of the greatest invention of the mankind; the Hubble's telescope; which is helping us to discover lot of new facts about our galaxy. Blackholes one of the most mysterious thing in universe, a slight info about it. A brief info about observatory park on how the space objects are tracked and monitored.

On the whole the movie gives a brief info on how the mankind has progressed so far w.r.t to space exploration, reaching to mars to find life and finding out if it is habitable.
