It would have been so much better without a laugh track. It's not even a show that made sense to have one. I get why shows use them but it's so stupid. How about just making a cry track also for emotional moments so I know I need to feel sad. This trend needs to die.
  • Great show, but lose the laugh track! It's annoying and unnecessary.
  • First season or 2 I enjoyed then I found the drama a bit too much and also the filter became so dark .
  • I am not going to explain what the show is about or how good the actors are doing their jobs, but simply put, this is a new take on TV series that I really appreciate. It is certainly not for everyone but its nice to watch something original (although am sure similar concepts may have been acted before).

There are some traditional American values on display here and to some that may seem not so modern or inappropriate, but in all honesty (am not an American nor can relate to this through experience), it is better than watching other comedy shows that are ridiculous, not funny at all and mainly promote specific themes to make sure they appeal to the wider audience.

Sit back and enjoy this show for what it is and not for what it is expected to be...its cool, relaxing and slow..and that's why you should binge it.

This so far has been a pretty decent show. If Danny Masterson exits the show, I don't have any interest in it anymore. It would be like if Jodie Sweetin left "Fuller House"
  • Bring back Rooster it's not as good without him. The man wasn't even convicted and they have no proof that he did anything wrong. What about innocent until proven guilty???
  • Warning: Spoilers
Refreshing to see something different. Love Sam Elliott and "Rooster". Love the adult humor. Great storytelling... great writers. Enjoying very much, but please dont let rooster leave.
  • Having to watch it at night because the smallest amount to light makes it impossible to see - on my brand new flatscreen tv (on it's brightest setting) & still not be able to see anything because the scenes were filmed too damn "DARK" is really annoying. Seriously. Were you trying to save on electricity?

It's not funny anymore as it used to be. Now all it is is drama. Bring back the rooster. He was the reason this show was mostly awesome .
  • What person decides to put a laugh track every 10 seconds....it spoils what is a really good shiw
  • Netflix recently added the new original series The Ranch to their line-up. The show follows the lives of a family of ranchers in Garrison, Colorado. I really started watching it for the Kutcher-Masterson pairing. The brothers great when playing off each other, but the whole cast is what makes the show a success. Kutcher continues his lovable dumb guy routine from back in the day, but there's an added maturity behind his character which I didn't entirely expect, and Masterson keeps up the sarcastic banter that he's known for.

Sam Elliot is fantastic as the stick-in-the-mud father, and balanced well with Oscar-nominated Debra Winger as the flighty and sometimes very wise mother. It was a nice surprise to see Elisha Cuthbert show up as Kutcher's high school ex-girlfriend, and the episodes with the both of them were great.

As with many Netflix originals, it starts off slow. If you can push past the stilted, bad jokes of the first episode then you'll find an endearing comedy with strong performances from everyone. Although the show can be quite predictable at times, overall it's a really fun, enjoyable production.
  • Just a wonderful show. Please, don't judge the show just off the pilot episode, as I did. Give it a few episodes before you hang it up. I understand...the pilot was a bare for me to watch, but it really gets better as you warm up to the characters and the story-line. I ended up binge watching all of the episodes with my wife. We are looking forward to future episodes of...THE RANCH...

    Warning: Spoilers
You cannot fire the main character and make a drama out of a sitcom. The ranch is over.
  • Parts 1-5 of the Ranch are fantastic, they are light hearted fun and hysterical. Part 6 made the ranch go from a comedy to something like days of our lives. Its no longer funny, its just drama..... This show sucks now
  • Warning: Spoilers
I'm only a few episodes into this part/season/whatever. But the show already has a very different feel. Kinda reminds me of Scrubs in the sense that the emotional map is all over the place. I'm cracking up one sec, and crying the next. I really hope they bring Danny back!!!
  • The Characters... I loved that the characters are not as shallow as they appear, for example, the chemistry between Colt and Heather and how a possibly good thing can develop from a hookup.

I loved that Maggie (the mom) is woman enough to know when something is not working and she is not afraid to step out on her own. Even unlikable dad, Beau, is growing on me.

I loved Rooster's dry humor and there are times Colt really tug at my heart strings. Kutcher does serious and funny in the same scene and makes it work.

The show deals with how f*ed up family can be and shows that you can find humor in any situation.

    Lose the laugh track

I wish the laugh track would go, it takes me out of the world these characters live in. The F-bombs are really not necessary because they feel fake and doesn't add anything to its delivery.

    Looking ahead...

The final episode ends with a major character leaving, I am looking forward to seeing what happens there. I am rooting for Colt and Heather. Beer-bong Billy is interesting and hilarious, I hope they do more with his character.

Overall, I loved The Ranch, I binge watched all 10 episodes in less than two days.

I won't watch anymore without Rooster! Also this Hollywood crap propaganda! This was one of our favorite shows! Won't be watching it anymore!
  • Warning: Spoilers
Just finished the last season and it was good but WHY would the writers all of a sudden make the mom turn into a gay, cult joining, men hating, gun hating, nazi liberal? I mean seriously!? I'm so tired of good shows pushing their woke Liberal agenda on me! All the shows fans wanted was for Rooster to come back but nooooo the why listen to your fan base? This show is still better than most probably because more people can relate to it but like Shameless and countless other shows it just couldn't help ruining itself by trying to go woke. I'm going to miss the show but after they fired Rooster and what they fired him for and how his character was written off, the show was never the same! I guess with this Metoo nonsense men are guilty until proven innocent. I would recommend watching but it's not going to blow you away and when will shows learn that the laugh track is sooooooo annoying?

    Warning: Spoilers
I was sceptical about this show to begin with, and found it a bit tedious, but it really grew on me, and I love the characters!

And when they fired Danny from the show, because of something that was never proven, I feared the worst... Danny was the one who tied everything together!

So here we are, season 6, first season with him, and I feel that the way they've written this is their feelings on this whole matter, and it's really hard to watch, and 3 episodes in, and I'm seconds away from breaking... This is really rough, and really well-written, but we still need him back, and I really hope they bring him back again....!
  • Some corny aspects keep this from a perfect series if you ask me. If you expect too much out of this series then you might be disappointed. Danny Masterson as Rooster is by far reason enough to watch. The knockout performances from Elliot and Winger speak for themselves. As for the rest...

I think putting Ashton in a small-town is the hardest sell here. As a whole it works out, since his character hasn't been around for so long. The writing is fantastic, and jokes are well timed, however most people aren't going to put this together and just see through him as a country boy.

The Netflix platform is clearly experimenting with what they can do here. These series are sure to keep coming, and the freedom to bypass censorship is both progressive and captivating. Can't wait for more seasons, from this series and more.

The Ranch is based around a dysfunctional family of two 30+ year old sons, a 70+ year old extremely conservative (politically) father and a 60+ year old mother. The mother and father Maggie and Beau Bennett do not live together although they are still married and maintain somewhat of a relationship. Beau and his eldest son Jameson "Rooster" Bennett work on the family ranch while the younger son Colt Bennett (Ashton Kutcher) has spent the last 15 years trying to make it as an NFL player, after becoming a famous local hero when he won the high school state championship when he was QB. The series focuses on Colt Bennett returning to the family and working on the ranch as well as connecting with some of his friends who still live in his home town.

The best description for the type of humour that is used within The Ranch is aggressive humour, as most of the characters make fun of one another and quiet easily get annoyed and angry with one another. This type of humour was interesting to witness within the first couple of episodes but after a while it got tiring and made me like the characters less. But eventually the show reduces the amount of this aggressive humour in the latter episodes. Some of the other humour seems forced at times and the series really did not seem to get going until the 5th episode.

But the best description for this series as a whole is - some of the comedy falls flat, the show takes a while to find itself and works better as a drama than a sitcom. The drama introduced in the latter episodes is the best part of the series, and if the show continues to find a balance between drama and comedy I will look forward to the future episodes of this show being released later this year.
  • Haven't laughed out loud at a TV show so much since Archer. Liked all the people in it. Maybe a little predictable at times but what sitcom isn't. Maybe it just appeals to my inner cowboy. I really really like this show. I have no idea what the 1-3 star ratings are about unless they just have issues with the actors, the show is good and may become great. maybe they just don't like this kind of comedy, I mean I don't like ballet or opera, doesn't mean they stink.

So I guess this is a show you love or hate. I especially liked that I didn't feel a particular political agenda being pushed. Or any agenda at all, just good fun. So my advice watch the pilot, if you don't like it skip the rest

The show was great with Dany! Please bring him back!
  • Warning: Spoilers
He was the base of this show, bring him back even if it's looking like John snow back after death. I can't complete this show anymore.
