After gaining 28 kg. for the initial shoot, Aamir Khan lost 25 kg. in 20 weeks to portray the younger(25 years old) character of Mahavir Singh Phogat.
The movie is a real life story based on Mahavir Singh Phogat who trained "dangal" to 6 girls, 4 of them were his very own while 2 were that of his brother. Interestingly, all of them won medals at some or the other level!
