"Everstar" is 22-minute animated short film that was released earlier this month. It is the pilot episode and if enough people like it, this may get turned into a series. The creator is Becky Tinker and it's her first work so far as writer. Director is Frank Marino and he is certainly more experienced. An adventurous girl and her careful friend end up in the universe on a spaceship called Everstar and they are facing huge adventures. I think this film's biggest strength is the animation. It looks good from start to finish, sometimes even great. I also liked the characters in here, the human ones as well as the spaceship crew. The voice acting is okay all in all. The story could have been a bit better, but I trust in them to elevate the material for future episodes. If they are made, that is. They ended it on a cliffhanger, which was nicely done not only because people will want to know how they get out of this dangerous situation, but also because this one not being picked up would probably mean they got killed. Nobody wants that. I am not sure if I would watch a series immediately, but this short film was pretty decent and I recommend it, especially to animation lovers, but also to sci-fi lovers. The latter I am certainly not, which makes it even more impressive that I enjoyed this one. Thumbs up.
