In Northern Italy in 1983, seventeen year-old Elio begins a relationship with visiting Oliver, his father's research assistant, with whom he bonds over his emerging sexuality, their Jewish heritage, and the beguiling Italian landscape.
The day-pack used by Elio in several outdoor scenes was Invicta's Jolly III Vintage, popular among school kids in Italy.
Call me by your name and I'll call you by mine.
Elio's wears a watch that appears to be the ubiquitous Casio F91-W, however this watch did not enter production until 1991 and despite looking retro doesn't quite match the setting of 1983.
The sound of the fire crackling in the fireplace continues after the last image of Elio goes black and the final notes of Sufjan Stevens's "Visions of Gideon" fade out.
