The Sinner season 3 delves into the philosophical core of the show's themes, setting up the final chapter. Jamie's past with Nick drives him down a dark path, making him a victim of psychological manipulation. Detective Harry Ambrose makes a controversial decision in the finale, revealing the true sin that seals his fate.
Understanding The Sinner season 3 ending requires delving into the philosophical core of the 8 episodes that aired in 2020, as the finale touches on many of the show's larger themes. Debuting in 2017, The Sinner follows troubled police detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) who investigates mysterious cases that often speak to the nature of humanity at a deeper and more primal level. Originally intended to be a miniseries, the show was expanded into subsequent outings that deviated from the eponymous novel by Petra Hammesfahr.
Despite deviating from the source material, each subsequent season kept with Hammesfahr's heady themes but wrapped them in procedural drama,...

Doom Patrol is the HBO Max series about a band of outcast heroes who solve odd issues that no other heroes will. They are a team of gifted yet scared and traumatized individuals. They never asked to be heroes, but that's what they became. Their being a team goes beyond saving the world, however: in a way, they can save each other, as they're also a sort of support group for one another.
Update October 12, 2023: In anticipation of the last half of Doom Patrol's final season, this article has been updated with even more cast members by Jack Deegan.
While at times grim, Doom Patrol is a fun, action-packed series that does its comic book source material justice, and as a comic fan, that's all anyone can ask for. The series has a lot of heart and works so well, thanks to its stellar cast. Fans know most...

Chris McCumber, the president of Blumhouse Television, has left the company. The well-respected leader was president of the division for three years.
Current president of production Jeremy Gold will step in as interim head of the company. Gold is not expected to take over the position long-term, and the search for a new president is ongoing. During this transition, Blumhouse TV will also rely on scripted head Chris Dickie.
McCumber’s exit has happened as layoffs have impacted the creative and business affairs departments of Blumhouse TV. Fewer than 10 employees were laid off, TheWrap can confirm. Altogether, there are roughly 100 people in the company.
The unscripted division of the company remained intact as did Blumhouse’s shared services groups. Those include production, casting, Hr, marketing and finance.
“I want to thank Jason Blum and the entire team at Blumhouse for their incredible partnership and support,” McCumber said in a statement.

Chris McCumber, the president of Blumhouse Television, is stepping down from his role, Variety has confirmed.
Blumhouse TV’s president of production Jeremy Gold will step into the top spot at the company on an interim basis. Chris Dickie, head of scripted at Blumhouse TV, will also be assisting during the transition. In addition, Blumhouse’s TV division is undergoing a round of layoffs. The number of people being laid off is said to be less than 10.
“We’ve always thrived by delivering what the market needs,” said Blumhouse president Abhijay Prakash. “So as the television marketplace evolves, we’re evolving too so we can focus on our existing projects and continue to do what we do best, and that’s producing great programming responsibly. The staff reductions are coming mostly from the TV division’s Creative and Business Affairs departments, sources said. The unscripted group, led by Gretchen Palek, will remain intact, as will Blumhouse’s shared services groups including Production, Casting, Hr, Marketing and Finance.

The movie Casper premiered 28 years ago, meaning the cast has had plenty of time to embark on a lot of new projects since then. The film starred classic '90s actors Christina Ricci and Devon Sawa as the film's leads. However, Casper also featured Hollywood royalty like Cathy Moriarty and Eric Idle.
While many of the film's actors took on projects with a similar spooky Halloween atmosphere to Casper, others leaned more into diverse comedy roles. A few of the stars even returned to the Casper franchise for other installments, while others never looked back. Here's what the cast of Casper has been up to since the 1995 film's premiere.

The cast of Peacock's Based on a True Story gives stellar performances, particularly the two leads playing characters involved in a true-crime podcast. The comedy thriller tells the story of a couple who decide to directly profit from a serial killer in their area by starting a podcast about him. To make the show unique, the podcasters choose to interview the murderer with the agreement that he does not kill anyone else while doing the podcast. The series forces viewers to examine where the line is between entertainment and exploitation.
Despite its heavy central question, Based on a True Story maintains a lighthearted tone throughout the show. The actors help achieve this balance between serious thriller and dark comedy approaches to the story. One of the main actors, Kaley Cuoco, performs well in her role due to her own passion for true-crime content (via Glamour). Along with Cuoco, the cast...

Ah, the Netflix Top 10. It's a place that can sometimes deliver hidden gems -- like the Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead mind-bender "Synchronic," currently at #5 on the English films list -- and star-powered stories. The streaming giant's weekly viewership chart has plenty of star power this week, from the Jennifer Lopez flick "The Mother" (#1!) to the Tom Hanks adaptation "A Man Called Otto" (#4).
For every title that feels like a hit, though, there's always an inexplicable chart-topper. This week, it seems to be "Muted," which as of publication time is in second place on the non-English-language TV shows list. According to Netflix, viewers watched 35.1 million hours of the Spanish psychological thriller show last week, which is a shame, because it's, well, really bad. Like pretty much every movie and series that's ever been put to screen, a lot of people surely worked hard on "Muted." Yet, with a 33% Rotten Tomatoes...

Finding one’s true place in the world can sometimes be off-putting. Where do we fit in? Where's our posse? These are deep questions and while they’re certainly at the forefront of 17-year-old Jem Starling’s (Eliza Scanlen) mind in The Starling Girl, they only become amplified when her bond with Owen (Lewis Pullman), a youth pastor more than 10 years her senior, suddenly deepens in ways she never anticipated.
The Starling Girl is a triumphant outing from writer-director Laurel Parmet, who created the story based on her own real-life experiences. As Jem struggles to understand her place within her fundamentalist Christian community in rural Kentucky, she also finds herself having to balance the allure and inappropriateness of her relationship with Owen and the morally shaky ground they both suddenly seem to find themselves standing on. This tender yet thoroughly captivating coming-of-age tale also stars Wrenn Schmidt, Austin Abrams, and Jimmi Simpson.

Jessica Biel (“The Sinner,” The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) has been set to star alongside Xochitl Gomez (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Ursa Major, Deadline reports today.
The thriller hails from twin brother directors Jonathan and Josh Baker (Kin) and is scheduled to head into production this fall.
Ursa Major takes place “on an Earth-like planet, where a mother (Biel) and daughter (Gomez) fight for survival while hiding from a group of relentless hunters. With the added threat of an imminent and deadly storm, Natalie — now a teenager — begins questioning her mother, Charlie, about who they really are, how they got here, and what they need to do to survive.”
Based on that premise and the team behind it, it feels safe to assume there will be surprises and potential twists in store for the mother and daughter as they attempt to evade their pursuers.

In the Emmy race for Best TV Movie, Hulu’s top contenders appear to be “Fire Island” and “Prey,” both of which are currently projected by Gold Derby to be top-five contenders, but “Crown Heights” director Matt Ruskin’s stirring journalism drama, “Boston Strangler,” is equally deserving of the streamer’s resources this season. Avoiding easy answers and boasting an Oscar- and Emmy-nominated cast, the film composites “She Said’s” female-empowerment angle, “Spotlight’s” reproof of corrupt city politics, and “Zodiac’s” emphasis on the personal toll exacted by obsession.
