"Pigeon Toady's Guide to Your New Baby" is an American animated short film from 2016, so still relatively new and this one runs for 2 minutes 15 seconds and it is a little addition for everybody who enjoyed the film Storks. The director is Nicholas Stoller and he is the writer too, one of 2 directors actually. I must say I have not seen Storks, but this one here did not really get me curious admittedly to do it anytime soon. It is nowhere near as funny as I would have liked. And the jokes feel just recycled from other projects like the lullaby and the pigeon falls asleep itself there. And well the burping moment is something really only small kids would appreciate and that is definitely not enough these days where so many animated movies are good enough and meaningful enough to make an impact for and stay memorable to grown-ups too. Warner Bros. sure can do better. Judging from this short, I know why the pigeon is most likely just a minor character int he movie. Some characters are made for lead, others not so much, and pigeon is among the latter fur sure. I found the human female character far more interesting here admittedly, so if she is feature more in the film, then maybe I check it out at some point. I won't go much into detail about the voice acting cast here, some known names are included, most of all Key&Peele. But these cannot save the film. I personally give this watch a thumbs-down and it is probably closer to a 1/5 than a 3/5. Only watch if you really really enjoyed Storks and especially the pigeon character. Here, the latter is pretty forgettable despite being the star.
