The film was announced on December 23, 2016, just two months after Bad Moms (2016) finished its theatrical run in the United States. Only 15 months separate the release dates of the original film and its sequel.

When Amy is driving her van with the family to see the nutcracker, you can see her registration in the windshield. It says the expiration date is 11/17. It's supposed to be 2 days until Christmas of 2017. Her registration is expired.
There are no opening credits at all. The title doesn't even appear on-screen until the end of the movie.
