  • The audience is for sure tired of the melodramatic indian tv series. This was a great change which should be a lesson for the other tv writers to come up with such contents that keep you hooked. The performances are amazing along the story. Amit Sadh has done an amazing job and R.Madhavan shines through out the series. What an amazing performance!

The only glitch according to me was the finale. Even though they put up a great twist yet I thought the makers were in a hurry and wanted to wrap the show up as soon as possible. The finale looked like a compromise to me, they could in fact do better than this.

Anyways, apart from the finale I found the rest of the show really interesting and original.
  • Breathe is Indian own version of True detective kind of drama.

While watching this you will have a thought that the day you all are praying that in India we will have a series as compelling as american series like true detective, Fargo and many more.

Once you will watch first episode your hand will automatically slide to next episode and next till the end.

All have given there best in performance, Madhavan plays a loving single dad who does what he have to. Question is not about right and wrong when it comes to family everything seems right.

Hoping that this kind of cinema prevails and thanks amazon for doing this right cheers !!
  • I had no doubt that this TV series won't be any less than your Netflix Originals, but the way they executed this 4 episode mini-series, I'm awestruck.

This tells us what lengths a man and/or a parent can go for their loved ones where they even lose the decision power of deciding what's right and what's wrong and what's ethically/morally/legally right and wrong.

Both R. Madhavan and Amit Sadh played a tremendous role, specially Amit, as he was playing sane/insane guy, but Madhavan too was awesome as he was playing that guy who everyone want to be but won't accept if they knew his reality.

I don't usually write reviews, but I had to write for, and this is my way of giving an standing ovation to the team and Amazon for this.

    Awaiting for the next season.

It will take your breathe.

Reviews below 6 by some, forced me to write my first review on IMDB.

Madhavan's shines in this series and the acting by other characters is also top notch. I have watched US, UK, Japanese, Scandinavian, Danish, Thai, German, Polish, Mexican, and Indian TV series since last 4 years. So, please ignore the critics and give this show a try.

Some dialogues are worth rewinding and listening too. While some of the episodes have sections that are predictable, what I liked about the series was its storyline and direction. While it is slow at times, it is in no way boring.

Some critics here say that this show is about sympathizing with a serial killer and can scare away people who want to donate their organs I beg to differ. This show has a very deep meaning. Madhavan plays the role of a desperate father who will do whatever he can, to save his son! While what he does to save his son is not justified, the show does end on a good note that the boy gets the organ donation and Madhavan - the killer dies at the end (which signifies crime and punishment)!

So, go ahead and give this show a try! I say, its worth giving it a full 10/10.
  • This is one amazing show. And all credits to amazon and producers of baby for bringing this. This is one of the best india TV show i had ever watched and one of its first kind in Hindi TV/Web show industry

The show is a great mix of emotions and crime. Madhvan is really good actor and had done superb job. Unlike usual indian movie/tv show, there are no stupid background songs or display of over-acting.

Plot is good and writer had written each episode and crime wonderfully

The show revolves around the life of two loving fathers, which coincides in the middle of the show.

    Worth a watch
  • I was not expecting much from this series but oh boy this changed as i went to second episode. Really this is on par with hollywood stuff really best screenplay story acting amazing must watch for any die heart fan of thriller series.
  • Last year I was especially happy to see a movie like Bahubali 2 come up with some good graphics and story line that matches international standards.

This year I see the same improvement in Indian TV thanks to initiatives from Amazon Prime.

What a show, awesome acting, storyline, and excellent screen play. I was really getting tired of watching serials like CID and the usual Indian household melodrama. Kudos to Madhavan for choosing and delivering in a good project.

The story is about a father who tries to bump up his son's name in the list for receiving an organ donation. The father, played by Madhavan, is not a bad person by nature, but will go to any extent to protect his son who is in need of an organ donation. On the other hand we have a dedicated cop, played by Amit Sadh, who is a great cop but often gets into trouble due to his habit of coloring outside the lines.

Very different and well executed. Madhavan and Amit Sadh are a total delight to watch. I was totally hooked for the first four episodes and I cant wait for the remaining four to come out!
  • If you really standing against international level , then this series deserve 7 stars But, 10 stars is not enough if you are comparing to regular indian shows! I think there still work need to do in editing department , this series should have been just 5 episodes long. Sometimes its just feel lengthy.

Overall great effort, i think indian entertainment soon to see good content
  • A story of getting his ill son the organ, the father looks for each and every possible way. Madhvan shown as a footballer coach turns out to be a killer for getting his son back to life. The story takes a turn when one of the organ donor, where the suspense begins. It's almost takes an unpredictable turn again in later part before coming to end as well. Overall the story has everything that you need in a thriller. Great plot, acting, superb background score and dialogue. Definitely watchable for thriller lovers.
  • I was pretty excited to see Amazon going in with Desi content. Finally the male audience would return to the television, and there ll be an option to escape from the drivel of multiple zoom fests, screaming contests, background cacophony laden sorry excuses of series that we have been tortured with on the Indian tv in the past decade, or so I thought. Hopes evaporated within 2 episodes of Breathe.

Poor direction and lousy editing doesn't helps the series get off the ground. Not only is the series utterly formulaic (and fails at that as well), it has been executed poorly while leaving in some basic mistakes. The lingering disappointments came to their elements in the form of the series finale. Episode 8 was not only utterly predictable, but it was done even more poorly. The last few lines and acts were cringe worthy, reminding one of the low budget movies. There seemed to be no intent to compete with the international standards and instead, the makers conveniently took the easy way out by serving an under-cooked dish while banking on a glossy platter to bail them out. I expected better from an Amazon original series.

Some good things - The series was technically good. Direction, camera and sound-effects etc were exceptionally good. The episodes were engaging too, they were successful in keeping me longing to know what would next happen in the story. Acting performances and the cast was good as well.

    Logical flaws -

1.)The story lacked authenticity in terms of rationality. It was bizarre to see that the serial killer could find such deserted areas in the middle of the densely populated city of Mumbai, where he moved about without others noticing him or getting caught in cctv footages.

2.)The lover of the killer whom he kills in the middle of a buzzing road, out of instant rage was monstrously downplayed in the further part of the story. It was nearly unbelievable that the crime-branch could not get the info about the woman(whom he dated apparently not very discretely) got killed so easily in public, unnoticed. And this happened at a time when the killer was in the crime-branch radar continuously. The woman was even known to the family of the killer, also importantly she was the doctor of his kid as initially shown. Still, there was never a funeral or anything after her death shown, nor the crime-branch could get any info about these events.

3.)The point 2 could be let gone, given that Mumbai was a big city and maybe the death of the woman would have been reported to some other police station or something. But, all the other murders that the killer does of the organ donors, get reported to the same crime branch folks, very much in sequence. And the pattern of the organ donors is cracked by the crime branch. Nevertheless, the poor folks couldn't even find out the woman , who was his son's doctor, whom he was dating publicly, and who even managed to find out that he was behind the killings of the donors.

Atrocious and monstrous message given to the public -

The last episode was the biggest spoiler for me. The killer was actually glorified and depicted as a good father who tried to save his kid by committing some forgivable sins. I was always under the impression that killer would be stamped a psychopath(which he was by all means) in the end, and would be demonised to such an extent that even for his kid , he would become a disturbing memory. He did heinous, gruesome and ruthless crimes, to innocent people(people who even had pledged their organs). He even killed the woman who loved him and dreamed of a life with him, since she had found out about the killings. That anti-social monster was glorified as a good father who tried to save his child. A child who was dying of a natural disease and was not getting an organ donor in time. Is it only me to whom the this glorification seems utterly grotesque and morbid? Is it a reflection of the prevalent society in which people are able to care or love only their own children or family? The killer developed a misanthropist attitude to society in which majority people are not pledging their organs. He has no apathy towards humans in general, whose lives he destroyed, all he cared was about his own kid, his own little family. He is in all manner a sheer psychopath, who should have been portrayed as one. Instead, the last few scenes of the episode showed how much he loved his kid. Maybe this is how our society is at present, where people only love their own possessions, living or non-living , and have nothing but apathy for everything else.

A dire message for organ donors? -

If this was meant to be a message for more people to come ahead and pledge their organs, I think it is lame. A good cause should never come out by ways of intimidation, it should come out of conviction by reasoning and compassion.
  • One of the best and indeed After Sacred Games this is the 2nd best Indian TV series..
  • Thanks amazon studios for making an Indian web series which has an international standards.I felt their acting and the camera work very excellent.I felt like i was watching an English tv series.we are looking forward for more of such type of Indian series.

I am so glad I stumbled across this Indian TV show on Amazon! In short, the main character's son needs a lung transplant desperately, as he only has six months to live if he doesn't get one. So his adoring dad takes matters into his own hands to move his son up the transplant list by ingeniously killing (or trying to kill) all those in front of his son the transplant list.

What makes 'Breathe' so exciting are the devious methods he concocts to knock off his victims...and the people who have the misfortune of trying to unravel his plan

Having binged the first season in just two days, I was upset that there was no season two immediately available for viewing. I don't know how 'Breathe' faired with Indian audiences, but I certainly hope it is/was renewed for another season. There are subtitles of course, but please don't let that be a deterrent to you watching this great show! Yeah...it's that good!
  • It is entirely diffrent plot which many would be surprised at,Mayank Sharma has nicely written and directed, very Extraordinary Direction, infact initial couple of episodes narrate two parallel stories, things go parallel from fourth episode "bad fish" and torque is amazing, every character leaves impact ,prahlad joshi is impressive as sub inspector with humorous one liners. R Madhavan as senior most member did justice to his character masscarenous ,Amit Sadh is show stopper and I think his best performance till date. It's Must watch. It's better than mirzapur of prime in many aspects.

Brilliantly done, this Series has been such a thrill to watch from beginning to the end. Kudos to the Actors, Director, Scriptwriter and the entire team. Hardly write any reviews but couldn't resist to Review this series. 10/10.
  • I watched it purely cause the trailer showed 2 good things...one...Bombay, i love when films/ series show bombay in a clear way...it catches my attention..watched Mc Mafia also for the same reason...2nd reason was Madhavan...So the rating is precisely for these 2 reasons..cause the plot of the series...is not entirely convinicing, the acting also...including Amit's character seems like its loosely based on other interesting and better cop film characters the director liked and litterally asked them to follow that...the built up was good...but there are way too many loop holes..the only reason i would continue watching is cause i already watched 5 eps...and cant stop watching...till i kno the ending obviously..if some one tells me...whats gonna happen..i will save my time!! But kudos to madhavan for taking up the job...i wish to see him more..in down to earth characters..!

I have seen the Malayalam movie Memories from where the Sr. Inspector character is inspired. Even the story also almost same in both the case. The killer is finally choosing someone very close to the investigating officer. In that movie it was his brother and here it is his wife. First few episodes were really good. Later the story becomes very predictable. Madhavan's performance is the only plus point I am seeing in this series. He was awesome.

What my doubt is, Kabir (Amit) killed Danny (Madhavan) at the end. Didn't he faced any department level investigation or something. You shot someone and at the end everything is haaappy haaaappy??? tbh, there is something missing in this story.. That is called "Logic". According to the story Danny is innocent. Because none of his crimes are solved. All are either accidents or medical conditions or suicide. And an inspector killed someone who is a innocent (legally) and in next scene the same inspector is playing with his kid and giving some emotional speech and giving an happy end note concluding with "Sr. inspector Kabir Sawant". really?? are you kidding?? the director wanted a happy ending. So he glorified everyone in the story. But it was not happy ending for me.. Waste of time..
  • This is a terrific web series and with a great story . Both madhavan sir and Amit sadh are in great form . This is a must watch series .

Story is really good & everyone did justice to it. Climax is also good. It is a crime thriller & will keep you glued till the end. A must watch who love suspense. They ended it gracefully to a very complicated scenario.
