  • Seeing as how it's an add-on video, not it's own seperate movie, I feel like you can't expect much. But if you're looking for some answers as to how Covenant could lead to Alien, this provides a satisfying enough of a bridge that if we never get a third prequel to finish off the trilogy, you can still reasonably assume how we finally get to Alien. Again, it's not a visually stunning video, but story wise I feel like it's captivating enough to garner a watch.
  • The topic itself is super satisfying for alien movie lovers. Though the movie itself just feels like last 30 minutes covered most of the topics and it just felt rushed. It feels like many good scenes could have been there but they are just not places so it leaves a hungry feeling for the watcher. Would definitely love to watch more of it.

"Advent" is an American 7-minute live action short film from this year (2017) and it is one of several little add-ons for the recent blockbuster "Alien: Covenant". The director is once again Luke Scott, son of Ridley. But honestly, I thought this was an unappealing watch, not because of the contents, but because of the cinematic approach. There is very little in here beyond what looks like found footage, a blood puzzle, some other atrocities and references about God and the world. The theory that this is among the more forgettable add-ons is confirmed by looking at its IMDb page here: summaries that have nothing to do with the contents and don't even work grammatically. Fassbinder and Rapace are not part of the cast here. You see Rapace on a photo and that's it. Instead the filmed is from a first-person perspective starring Peter Weyland's son. So yes this is a bit of a mess that adds nothing to the film or franchise. Maybe the set decoration keeps this from being a complete failure. Still, I give this a thumbs-down. Don't watch.

For 6 years i waited to see where Shaw and David were going.... hoping to see them find the engineers for answers. To see they killed her off-camera and went the direction they did was disappointing to say the least. Actually, they still could, make a movie where David and Shaw make it to the Engineers planet and after, who knows how long, hanging out with the Engineers, Shaw is killed by the Engineers, for one reason or another, and Shaw releases the black-goo as a revenge thing...and then, of course, trying to bring Shaw back from the dead using the black-goo, starts to experiment with her body; trying to bring back his queen...in the failed attempt he creates the queen-alien that lays the eggs...in his own android, ego-maniacal brain he considers himself some kind of creator and likens himself to the Engineers.. Or something along those lines...I think there's room for a movie with Shaw and David living on the Engineers planet. The ship was crashed after David released the Black-goo; maybe an Engineers got off one lucky shot before he died, causing David to lose control of the ship and crash.
