  • "Summer Stock: Get Happy" is a 17-minute documentary short by Tuner Entertainment on the making of the 1950 movie, "Summer Stock." Most of the discussion is about the problems in making the film because of the big delays caused by its star, Judy Garland. She skipped rehearsals, was late more many and left work early. It has some films and interviews and comments form half a dozen people. Only two were among the cast of the movie, Gloria DeHaven and Carlton Carpenter. She played Garland's sister, Abigail, in the movie, and he played Artie. They talked some about the plot and their roles.

But, the gist of the short seemed to be empathy for Garland's emotional and physical condition, while also relating the considerable inconvenience and hardship it was on the rest of cast and the studio. Several comments concerned Gene Kelly and his kindness to Garland. Where she had apparently been a help in the start of his career, he was now someone who cared for and would patiently bear with Garland. There isn't much more to this short documentary.
