Air Marshal G.H. Mulcaster lectures a group of civilians on the need to bring the Territorials up to full complement, lest an invasion leave a gap in the defenses, leading to disaster. The audience is then treated -- if that's the word, which it isn't -- of a reenactment of an actual invasion.

It is often thought that the British government did nothing in preparation for the Second World War; in actual fact, Britain was re-arming as rapidly as it could, while maintaining publicly that there was no threat; diplomacy has occasionally been defined as saying "nice doggy" while looking around for a rock. That's what the British were doing, and the Territorial Army, their home guard, was an important component in their defense. Here's a recruitment movie for that effort.
