When movies and tv shows get adapted into video games they're usually pretty dire and back in the 90's it happened a lot. If something was popular they'd make a poorly made cashgrab of a game out of it and boy did it saturate the industry.
Jurassic Park seemed like a logical choice and they really milked it. 4 games at least came out titled simply Jurassic Park in 1993 across varying systems. As was the way back in those days it wasn't a game released across different consoles, it was a different game per system.
The SNES version was in my opinion the best and was an interesting title. Playing Dr Grant you had to navigate the island in search of various required items such as raptor eggs while trying to avoid the nasty dinos.
It was top down and looks passable for its day. What made it stand out that little bit more was that if you went into a building the entire gameplay shifted to first person which wasn't a common thing back then.
Sure the first person parts looked ugly as hell but for 1993 it was really quite revolutionary.
The game was criminally short so it was hardly worth the 50 bucks, but there was certainly fun to be had despite the blatant cashgrab.
The Good:
Well constructed
Quite ahead of its time
The Bad:
Very short
Clunky third person sections
Things I Learnt From This Game:
The 90's truly were a fantastic time for gaming
