Earlier this month, an image cinematographer Christian Sebaldt shared on Instagram indicated that Final Destination 6 (which is going by the title Final Destination: Bloodlines) was finally, after years of development and a thirteen-year gap between sequels, heading into production. The next day, producer Craig Perry took to social media to confirm that Final Destination: Bloodlines is indeed filming, the aim being to get this one into theatres in 2025 – in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film. Now, it’s been revealed that the long anticipated sequel has officially wrapped principal photography. Once again, the announcement came courtesy of Perry. The film stars Brec Bassinger (Stargirl), Teo Briones, Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Richard Harmon, Anna Lore, Owen Patrick Joyner, Max Lloyd-Jones, Rya Kihlstedt, and Tinpo Lee. It also features the return of Tony Todd in his iconic role as William Budworth, who was in the first,...

It’s about time! Thirteen years have gone by since the release of Final Destination 5, but we’ve been hearing rumblings that another sequel was on the way for years. A while back, Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, came on board to produce the sixth film in the Final Destination franchise alongside Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Craig Perry. Back in September of 2022, we learned that the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie, would be directing Final Destination 6. Last October, it was revealed that the film will be called Final Destination: Bloodlines… and now cinematographer Christian Sebaldt has shared an image that indicates Final Destination: Bloodlines will be heading into production soon! The production designer for the upcoming Final Destination 6 film confirmed that it’s considered a reboot.
The sixth entry in the franchise was first announced as being in development in 2019, though due to many factors, including the Covid-19 pandemic, progress on the film has been slow. Both Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein will be co-directing the project, and Scream VI screenwriter Guy Busik is penning the story.
While little is known about the movie, it was previously revealed that the plot will center on first responders instead of the usual cast of younger characters.

For the most part, horror franchises tend to center around a singular entity like a masked slasher, recognizable monster, defiant survivor, or a specific location. And then there's the "Final Destination" franchise, a series of films that has continued to thrive without easily merchandised iconography or the same stable of characters returning each time that are instead connected by the premise that no matter who we are, where we're from, or what we do ... death is going to get us one way or another.
It's a morbid thought, sure, but one that has more basis in reality than men who just won't die, serial killer-possessed dolls, dream predators, Bdsm hell demons, rural cannibal families, torturous masterminds with a legion of acolytes, or supernatural entities. Death is coming for us all, and the only difference is when and how it's going to happen. As the mortician Bludworth (Tony Todd) explains in...

One of the more underrated character actors who has amassed a cult following is Tony Todd. The deep-voice and intimidating figure of the actor is a perfect fit for the horror genre and gained recognition with his turn in the original Candyman. Bloody Disgusting is reporting that sources have revealed that Todd will be making a return to another horror series with the upcoming Final Destination 6.
Not too many details have been revealed, but this installment is said to revolve around a plot involving first responders. The sources also reveal that the sequel will delve into the background of Todd’s mortician character, Bludworth. This apparently includes having flashbacks to his childhood, which are said to reveal more about his connection to death.

Sources tell Bloody Disgusting that Tony Todd has signed on to reprise his role as William Bludworth in the upcoming sixth installment in the Final Destination franchise.
The horror icon played the enigmatic mortician in Final Destination, Final Destination 2, and Final Destination 5.
The plot reportedly centers on first responders. We’re told that the film digs into Bludworth’s backstory, including a flashback to his childhood that reveals more about his connection to death.
This may be what franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick was referring to in his recent comments that Final Destination 6 “unearths a whole deep layer to the story.”
Production is set to take place in Vancouver after the SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved. Zach Lipovsky & Adam B. Stein (Freaks) will direct from a script by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor (Bed Rest). Filmmaker Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home) produces.

Thirteen months ago, Jeffrey Reddick – who wrote the initial screenplay for the original Final Destination and contributed to Final Destination 2 – said that the upcoming sequel Final Destination 6 would shake up the formula of the franchise. Now Reddick has been asked by Collider to clarify what he meant by that… and while he had to tiptoe around spoilers while giving his answer, he did say that the film will be an interesting expansion of the Final Destination universe.
Reddick told Collider that “you can’t get away from the cheating death and death coming after you part of it because that’s what makes it a Final Destination film” but this one “doesn’t just kind of add another layer. Usually there’s a new layer every film where it’s like, ‘Oh, well, this can save you or this can save you.’ This film dives into it in such a unique way,...

Twelve years have gone by since the last time a new Final Destination movie was released – which is way too long without a new entry in an awesome franchise that had a nice “one every three years” pattern going on for a while. Thankfully, Final Destination 6 is in the works. Last September, it was announced that the film will be directed by the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. "Final Destination," the horror franchise that found inventive new ways to brutally murder teenagers, is back. A "Final Destination" reboot is in the works, with "Spider-Man: No Way Home" director Jon Watts on board as producer. While there are no plot details at the moment, we know that Lori Evans Taylor ("Wicked Wicked Games") and Guy Busick ("Scream") are tackling the script, with Watts producing with his wife and partner, Dianne McGunigle. "Final Destination" franchise producers Craig Perry and Sheila Hanahan Taylor are also on board. The film will debut on HBO Max, because I guess we've reached a point where no one has faith that a "Final Destination"...

The “Final Destination” franchise lives again.
Fresh from the $1.5 billion–grossing behemoth “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” filmmaker Jon Watts has boarded “Final Destination 6” as a producer for New Line Cinema. Watts’ wife and partner, Dianne McGunigle (“Cop Car”), is also producing, alongside longtime “Final Destination” producers Craig Perry and Sheila Hanahan Taylor.
Lori Evans Taylor (“Wicked Wicked Games”) and Guy Busick (the new “Scream”) are writing the screenplay based on a treatment by Watts.
The film is set to debut on HBO Max.
“Both Dianne and I have been massive fans of ‘Final Destination’ from the very beginning,” Watts said in a statement. “So to be able to have a hand in crafting a new story with the original team and New Line is going to be both fun and exciting.”

With so many ways to die it feels as though there really isn’t a final Final Destination given the idea that there are literally millions of ways that a person can check out, from many different perspectives. But it does sound as though a Final Destination 6 could possibly take off from the expected track and try something different, but so far we’re not being told what that is, other than it’s not a reboot, but is going to happen in a different universe. There are so many ‘go-to’s’ at this point in Hollywood that this has become another, meaning

It’s now been almost a decade since the last Final Destination and despite a couple of ups and downs along the way, it remains one of my favorite horror franchises, featuring some hilarious, imaginative and downright disturbing on-screen deaths. Between 2000 and 2011, the series saw five movies that scored a cumulative box office total of $664 million, with Final Destination 5 impressing critics and racking up a decent profit.
After that, you’d think Final Destination 6 would have been a no-brainer, but the wheels stubbornly refused to move. In 2019, though, we finally heard rumors of a new entry in a late stage of development. This was apparently almost ready to shoot, before Covid-19 arrived and the film was put on the back burner.
Now, creator Jeffrey Reddick has revealed more about what’s planned. In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, he explained that while Final Destination 6 is set in a “different world,...

Though it’s been flying under the radar for almost a decade, Final Destination is on the verge of a comeback.
That’s according to series producer Craig Perry, who indicated that the sixth film in the cult horror franchise may be grounded in the world of first responders. Which is to say that Final Destination 6 will feature EMTs, firemen, and police in major roles.
Perry sat down with Digital Spy to discuss the sixth entry in the series, which currently has Saw screenwriters Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan at the wheel. They’ll be rustling up something fresh – something different – though Final Destination‘s creator Jeffrey Reddick is quick to warn fans that this won’t be a reboot, per se. But more on that later.
Here’s what Perry had to say regarding the core plot driving this new installment:
