  • The acting is direct, the dialogue is story driven and you can see the ending a mile away. But I enjoyed myself watching all episodes. A very welcome from other series where the plot is a 10 layer lasagne. A former cop with a past gone vigilante, an aidfull police compagnon and a simple crime story solved in 45 minutes. What more do you need?
  • My lady and I are really enjoying watching Shadow, six episodes in. The action is fun and the dialogue is witty. Good, uncomplicated entertainment, set in a region we're less familiar with. Love the cityscapes in particular, and I want to go up in that tall, cylindrical building someday if that's possible.
  • Great show, totally different than what you will expect and this won't get enough exposure likely and will be one of those lost gems hidden in the Netflix library. Check it out enjoy it, & pass it onto your friends so they make more cool seasons of Shadow!
  • The show has a few actors that can pull believable acts but get ruined by corny acting at times, the best talent for the show is mostly those behind the camera. The show has some good entertaining moments with some humour which ends up not giving us a complete disaster but a watchable show. This sets the mark for other S.A neflix shows if possible as we can see they kinda work
  • Initially I thought this was loose in interest in 2 episodes I was wrong quite interesting and a lot of heart Well done team shadow
  • Warning: Spoilers
What I mean by experience is that the crew, make up crew, stunt team and FX crew are lacking a Producer that is permanant! Keeping up with the story line! The main Character has been stabbed, shot! Suffered broken bones and fractures but yet none of it shows on his smooth skin! It is unfortunate that they lacked the vision of keeping track! He lacks the bullet scars and massive dagger scars in previous episodes in a half naked pool scene... I hope in the next season they will add the scars, Like the comic book hero the punisher shadow is a possible 10 star if they get better funding! Better producers! And be considerate of the fan base not being idiots.
  • Trash television at best. Form and style done tastefully but the narrative is not so compelling. Those that had positive reviews about this show are either bias or are paid to juke the stats. If you have the worst taste televised content then your opinion of this show must not be literally taken for granted. South Africa is given the best platform on Netflix but I think the international film community is laughing at us. If this show was good and merited the reviews I saw on this platform then I ask this, why aren't these actors and filmmakers not in demand by the world's most profound film markets. The exodus made by British, Australian, Kiwi and Chinese actors into Hollywood. If this was a stellar project why are we not following up with season two? Answer is, the local industry is run by influences not real thespian...
  • If you like television series such as Spencer for Hire and the Equalizer, then this is for you. Very different feel to each episode but with the same heart. The different tone to each episode really lets the cast flex their acting muscles. Well shot, directed and acted, worth the time.

I thoroughly enjoyed this production! It starts of slow - hope we'll have a couple of seasons 💪🏼
  • I really can't believe Netflix made this. Their original series are usually very good especially having good actors but geez. The acting was AWFUL! I couldn't even get through the first episode it was that bad. And the dude pulled out a desert eagle so i was done.
  • Great cast, great action and drama! Main characters were intense, storyline interesting ...can't stop watching ...
  • This series is centred on Shadow, an ex-cop in Johannesburg who takes on jobs to help those the system can't or won't help. For the most part this means each episode is self-contained with Shadow taking on a different ne'er-do-well each time. He is frequently aided by his friend Max, a serving police officer whose boss isn't happy about him helping Shadow. To set Shadow apart from other similar characters he has an unusual condition; he can't feel pain. He plans to use the money he earns to fund treatment that could see his disabled sister walking again.

I thought this was a fun little series even if it isn't really a must see. The single episode stories reminded me of shows I watched in the seventies and eighties. The cast is fairly small and while the stories are different they tend to follow the same pattern with a confrontation with the villain in the closing minutes. I liked the Jo'burg setting; it made a nice change from the usual US and UK locations found in English language series. The cast is decent enough; particularly Pallance Dladla, who plays Shadow and Khathu Ramabulana who plays Max. Overall a decent enough series that passes the time nicely without being too demanding.

    2/10
    Shoit
Denzil does this 1 million times better.

Jaded storyline. Bad acting. Must have cost at least 20 dollars to make each episode.

    Two stars is generous.

Can't wait to see episode 2 (joking).

Where do I go for a refund of the 15 minutes I wasted watching this nonsense?
  • It started as a solid B-tv-series, unrefined but a fresh take on the fixer genre with a few funny scenes in the first episodes. In later episodes it slipped way too easily and fast into standard clichés. Miracle computer hacker wizard nerd, miracle medicial healing, hero-needy-damsels, some standard soap opera elements, the usual stuff.

It's a refreshing change to have a non U. S cop style drama. It's done well in all aspects and I can see this series catching on. Its well acted and not over the top look at me I am the hard tough guy type of drama. Hopefully series 2 will follow.
  • Just monotonous and slow , no life or seriousness in the episodes. Watched only the part Ashley and shadow's conversation because that is the most cutest and lovingly part in the show, rest fast forward it. The episodes are pretty much copied plots from american shows. Usually netflix foreign shows are piece of garbage except few like Wild District.
  • Excellent south African action TV show. With some great comedy element. Very much like bad boys. Each episode has a different stories but their is a thread that runs throughout the whole show.

If you get past pseudo American accents, music, general look and feel, it's not a horrible way to spend 45 minutes. It's like it's a showcase from acting final year students ...and writers ...and director probably. I've only seen episode 1 and hopefully there's actually at some South Africa in it.

This series took me surprise, great cast, well-acted, well-written, and highly entertaining. Hope there's a second season.
  • I was surprised to see some reviews giving this "time wasting, bad acting, shallow scenarios & weak directing" series 9 stars!!!! Anyways, that what made me determined to put a review.

I couldnt stand anything in this series, starting with the acting as I relly cant imagine how could you find a series that no single actor or actress was good!!!, and its tge same with the directing, the script, the dialogue, the plot, the action scenes, and everything else that goes on in this series is simply has nothing to do with making a goodbseries industry.

I just prey and hope that this doesnt continue with another season as that is going to be another miserable bunch of episodes.

    P. S: to all caste and anyone has put no efforts in this series, please watch Line of Duty, the british series and feel sorry for what you made here.
  • Loved the storylines for each episode and the characters. The acting was good too. Well done!
  • Stunned about how much bad acting, direction and lack of plot you can do in 2 min!!!

How can anyone watch this without their eyes melting?
  • If you wanna relax and enjoy a new action serie, Shadow is your man 😉 Really good action with a little touch of drama and really fun. Enjoy this series of Netflix.

Stumbled onto this the other day, now cannot stop watching it. This show is very well done. The characters are very well defined making them easy to root for the main characters. Shadow is special but superhuman and the show does a great job showing that fact. Highly recommend watching the show.
  • It was totally awesome I can't wait for season 2!!!
