Unresolved Questions From "The Walking Dead" Season 7 Finale11 of 11
11. Will Negan ever die?
Also, will he ever take off that heavy leather jacket and scarf in the Southern heat? But really, what is it going to take to kill this guy?
Our group has already had several chances, and either couldn't or just didn't take him out. Plenty of other people have died, but it's hard to get to Negan without risking many other lives. For whatever reason, he has an extremely loyal cult of followers invested in the future of the Sanctuary. Like Eugene, they probably feel safest there, and he does have a set of rules that may help them rationalize what they do.
Negan doesn't want to kill, and he has actually killed fewer of Rick's group than vice versa. He wants more employees, and he's the kind of successful boss that knows how to compliment people and draw them in, making them feel so much a part of the team that they really seem to believe they are Negan too. It's weird. But it seems unlikely that anyone other than Dwight will turn on him, and even if Team Rick kills Negan, that doesn't seem like it would end the war. Negan's group is as loyal to him as ours is to Rick.
So will he ever die? If so, will it be this season?
Comic book readers may feel like they have a head start on the answer, but you never know how the show will adapt the story. There are usually more than a few twists in showrunner Scott M. Gimple's "remix."
