Unresolved Questions From "The Walking Dead" Season 7 Finale5 of 11
5. How much can we trust Dwight?
They say the enemy of your enemy is your friend, but it's hard to see Dwight as a friend. He does seem to be with "us" for now, but is it only for now? He and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) certainly have major trust issues, and Tara is not a fan, now that she knows Dwight is the one who killed Denise (in his attempt to kill Daryl).
Dwight is a complicated guy, and it's unlikely that anyone — including viewers — will give him a pass for his past behavior, even if you could argue his actions were understandable in context. He did have his face ironed by Negan, who stole his wife Sherry (Christine Evangelista) and made her his "wife." So when Dwight says he wants Negan dead, we believe it. And he left that little toy soldier note to make sure Daryl knew that Dwight "didn't know" what was going to happen with the Scavengers.
But does that mean he's really part of our team, long-term, or just a temporary ally with a common enemy? What happens if/when Negan is out of the picture as an enemy? Will Daryl really kill him, as promised? We've seen enemies become friends before (Tara was initially Team Governor, Michonne and Rick fought at the start, etc.) so will Dwight be next, or try to ditch Team Rick the second he gets his revenge?
