The Elvira Show
(1993)

Elvira does it better.
The version I saw actually ran closer to 27 minutes. The plot of the pilot episode (and premise of the series itself) of "Sabrina, The Teenage Witch" is actually very similar to The Elvira Show. Elvira does it better though, and was there first with it. It would be nice to see Elvira market this as a Halloween tape/DVD. Or maybe she could just include it as a bonus extra on the "Elvira's Haunted Hills" DVD whenever it gets pressed. -Arthur-

Halloween with the New Addams Family
(1977)

Favorable, but bittersweet memories.
After being off the air for so many years, it was nice to see ANY new Addams Family adventure. Their first (and only) appearance in color, unfortunately helped to show how old many of them had grown. Being shot on video and the low budget special effects (cousin Itt spoke 'garbled' dialog not his usual high speed reverse English) were disappointing, but it is a GREAT watch at Halloween. A moment to look for: In order for Carolyn Jones to be able to march up the staircase for the finale, it was necessary for her tight fitting dress to be slit up the back all the way up to her spine. Watch for John Astin's ear-to-ear grin as he stares at her butt while walking behind her & you'll see that this is a TRUE story!

Addams Family Reunion
(1998)

Worth a look if you're a fan of the TV series
Although none of the Addams films have yet to equal the zany brilliance of the original TV series, I found this 3rd in the film series to most closely match the flavor of the TV show. This film portrays the Addams Family as a loving, functional (although WEIRD) family unit. They enjoy each other's company and are always ready to cheer one another on for a job well done (by their unique definition of 'well done'). The two previous entries presented a dysfunctional type of family (internal feuding) that has become more frequent in films of the last few decades. I prefer this portrayal; a bizarre take-off of the TV sitcom families that populated the airwaves from the 50's to the mid 60's.
