Obeo deo reinbou
(2002)

The "rainbow" mystery reminds me of the "rosebud" mystery in"Citizen Kane,"
Very interesting movie about a weatherman who is slowly regaining bits and pieces of his memory after an accident, and the pieces are leading him on a quest to find a college sweetheart known only by him as "Rainbow." But he just cannot remember who Rainbow is. He was always secretive in school, so none of his college friends know the lady's identity. This is a mystery romance, well-acted and well-made. The "rainbow" mystery in a way reminds of the "rosebud" mystery in the movie "Citizen Kane." (This review is in regard to the dvd version with English subtitles.) The Korean film industry has another winner in "Over The Rainbow."

Humor, humor, humor, and then "Bang," edge-of-your-seat drama.
I am not a fan of police movies but this one won me over. I found it to have the perfect blend of humor and drama. The multiple plots of kidnapping, murder, and a thief within the police's very own station were all handled smoothly by an excellent group of actors. In a way it reminds me of the movie M*A*S*H in that there is humor, humor, humor, and then "Bang," edge-of-your-seat drama and tension. (This review is in regard to the dvd version with English subtitles.) I've watched this movie a dozen times now and each time I notice something extra, things that are funny or odd taking place in the background. The movie was easy to follow despite me having never seen the TV series. You will enjoy this film.

Korea is making some wonderful films, and this is one of them.
Wow! This film is the kind of movie that brings tears to your eyes and warmth to your heart. Everyone connected to "A Day" should be proud of their efforts. The emotions you feel for this childless couple are powerful reminders that love and life and family are among the best subjects for dramatic cinema. (This review is in regard to the dvd with English subtitles.) Some wonderful films are coming out of Korea, and this is one of them.

Messengers
(1999)

It's nice when a movie can bring a smile to your face.
This is an absolutely delightful film. Throw a cute young lady from the glamorous world of high-fashion into the sweaty world of bicycle messengers, then add a pleasant blend of humor and action and a rivalry with motorcycle messengers, and this movie will bring a smile to your face. Her first day on the job is hilarious, and I even enjoyed the music video at the end of the film. (This review is in regard to the vcd version with English subtitles.) A truly perfect movie and another gem from Fuji TV.

A delightful film with honest feelings.
An unappreciated housewife and a work-oriented female radio talk show host cross paths when the housewife seeks advice on how-to bring spice back into her life. The radio host's unconventional advice causes major changes in the lives of both women and the males who love them. This "Ping Pong Bath Station" is a delightful film filled with honest feelings.

If Fuji TV is involved with a film then I want to see it.
I knew nothing about this film, "Give It All," when I bought it except that it was a Fuji Television production, and I was quickly learning that Fuji TV makes quality movies. As it turns out now, "Give It All" is one of my favorite films. The photography is beautiful and the sound track is the perfect enhancement to this wonderful story, a story that takes us into the awkward world of a High School girl who wants to start a rowing team for girls. The emotions are genuine, the acting superb, and I suspect that the screenwriter must have lived the events depicted in this film since this is a subject one would never expect to see in a movie. It is funny and sad and inspiring and wonderful. I'm glad I bought it, and my friends and relatives enjoy the copies I got for them, too. (This review is regarding the vcd version of this movie with English subtitles.) The entire family will enjoy this movie, and now, I am going to go watch it once again.

Martial arts with humor.
There are two things I want in a Jackie Chan flick and this movie, aka Mr. Nice Guy, delivers them both. First I look for new physical feats and stunts, and second I want to laugh. This film provides great fights and good humor. Like Operation Condor it is among the best of his movies.
