This Year's Love
(1999)

Intelligent and real
Well, I have read other comments less than flattering but my wife and I loved it. I don't care about the coincidences and any small contrivances, the characters were so well portrayed that by the end I knew them all personally and could relate them to people in my past. Don't get picky, do you want more of this or more 'You've got Mail'? I know what I prefer.

Manhattan
(1979)

Brilliant
I first watched Manhattan in Glasgow in 1979 and it knocked me out. While not enamoured so much by the music and setting, I love the wit and the critique of pseudo-intellectualism. The climax exposes the shallowness of Isaak and the 'maturity' of the now 18 year-old Tracy. Watchable time after time this ranks as my favourite along with Schindler's List but for very different reasons.
