LAX
(2004)

messinam
I too am a pilot and I can attest that messinam's comments regarding the reality of the show are correct. The real problem lies within the "nature of the beast" and unfortunately the only exciting thing at an airport is a bomb threat. Other than that, it's just a bunch of planes taking off and landing and the mundane life of the ticketing staff, pilots and ground crew and the excitement in their lives would barely fill a teaspoon. SO .. NBC has created a series of shows that lie about how exciting the airport life really is. My take: If you want to watch something realistic about airports you should watch "Airline" on A&E. It's filmed at multiple airports around the US and focuses on Southwest Airlines. Of course, even this show is at the hands of editors so don't believe EVERY word they say.

Analyze This
(1999)

Analyze this, well .... Okay here goes ....
This was a great movie. I was only disappointed in one thing and that was if you'd seen the previews for this movie over the last few months you pretty much didn't see anything new when you saw the movie through. Although I laughed my head off and I really enjoyed the chemistry between Crystal and De Niro I spent an awful lot of time trying to figure out where the next snippit from the previews would pop up. It's a movie well worth seeing if you like a reasonably well written story and a lot of good acting and humor. I give it a 4 star rating and for those who know me, that's pretty darn good : )

Forces of Nature
(1999)

You've seen one like this, you've seen them all ...
This was by far one of the worst movies Sandra Bullock has starred in. Ben Affleck should stay behind the camera and continue writing scripts. This is definitely his forte and acting is not. I actually lasted 54 minutes into this movie before I was so bored with it I felt compelled to leave the theater. It's a bore from beginning to, well 54 minutes into the film anyway. The premise of "Guess what happened to me on the way to the ...." has been done over and over to death. Somehow there just doesn't seem to be anything funny, or romantic about people cheating on each other. Parents should be aware that this may not be a suitable film for your teenage children especially impressionable ones that may view Sandra as a hero. There is a scene where the writers/producers/directors thought it would be nice to show how "acceptable" it is to smoke a joint .... while driving .... and then have no consequences at all when caught. I'm no prude, and I smoked my share when I was younger but I guarantee you I won't take my teenagers to see it and they're solid A & B students. If you want to see a good Sandra Bullock movie, rent "The Net" or "Hope Floats" which I believe are two of her best works.

The Poseidon Adventure
(1972)

What a superb cast !
The Poseidon Adventure is a fabulous drama with a cavalcade of stars. Each one of the characters was portrayed by a master performer and the casting director was brilliant. The cinema- tography was incredibly realistic and the story, although rather unbelievable at times was gripping. The ending wasn't predictable and the movie as a whole really keeps you wondering what's going to happen next. This is a film well worth renting/watching if you enjoy a dramic movie with a romantic theme.

Message in a Bottle
(1999)

When is it going to end?
Boy, was I disappointed with this one! It was probably the worst film I've seen since "A River Runs Through It" which would be the kindling for my bonfire of terrible films. This is a movie about a man who is obsessed with his deceased wife. That's it. That's the whole 2.5 hours. It is the second most agonizingly long, boring movie that I've wasted my money on (The aforementioned movie is still #1). The plot was awful, the acting was even worse. I think Kevin and Paul should be ashamed they made this horrible picture and the writer should be banned from ever writing another script. The cinematography was about the only redeemable facet of the movie. I actually applauded at the end because I was so happy it was finally over. Save your money on this one and rent any other Costner or Newman film, you'll thank me. Really you will.

I've got a better ending!
Well, for the most part it was a good show. It was a little too violent and somewhat gory in places but it definitely kept me on the edge of my seat once it got going. I thought the acting and directing were very well done. The background music was terribly annoying. It didn't match most of the scenes and it was too loud when it should've been quiet. The ending was a little disappointing too. Oh well, maybe they'll do a sequel.
