Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
(2002)

Not what I expected and it wasn't Jar-Jar's fault this time
Attack of the Clones is a little better than The Phantom Menace, but still does not even come close to the original trilogy. Even Return of the Jedi was better overall. I've been a huge fan of the originals for years. I was definitely a Star Wars fanboy up until the release of the disappointing Episode I. My expectations had been set so high and I just felt so let down. The initial reviews of Episode II gave me a little bit of hope, but when the majors gave it mixed reviews I went into it with lower expectations. And I still feel disappointed with this one. Don't listen to the fanboys who like to flame the negative reviews. This film deserves every one of them. It's not a bad film at all but it's nothing great. The acting is mostly stale and the dialog is mostly weak. The effects are fantastic but they seem overused. This is most definitely an animated film starring humans. *POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD* - - The last hour of the film is full of waaay to many different droids and forms of technology that does nothing but put the older sequel trilogy to shame as far as effects go. Most people agree that Yoda's role in the end is the best part of the film. But I think the Yoda character was dumbed down in Attack of the Clones compared to what we see of him in the original trilogy. And not even the end of the film redeems his role in my opinion. Plus, that particular scene is just too short. My main gripe with this film is that it doesn't explain much of anything! It does very little to move the story along. Episode III has A LOT to explain... There are things I enjoyed about this one. I actually liked the humor with R2-D2 and C-3PO. I really enjoyed the end of the tatooine scene with Anakin. It was very powerful. I have yet to see this film digitally projected, but that won't change anything I've said about it. I saw it on film. The film was a little bit dark, but it still looked like film to me. I look forward to the next episode and hope that George Lucas truly redeems himself.

Blade Runner
(1982)

highly overrated
This film is a so-called cult sci-fi hit from Alien, and more recently Gladiator, director Ridley Scott. Unlike those two films, this one is terrible. Harrison Ford is basically playing a variation of his Han Solo character from Star Wars. I went out and rented it on DVD to see what all the fuss was about, and all I can say is that it is highly overrated. I must say though, it is quite visually impressive for being made before the era of computer animation. It is also dated by today's standards, despite what people say. The plot is without a soul. The visuals are the only thing that kept me interested. The ending was a surprise. That was different... Anyhow, I couldn't wait for the film to end. When that happens, it usually means that the movie does not deserve to be in the top 250.

Go
(1999)

Stop comparing Go to Pulp Fiction!
Go is a really great film that critics and IMDB users like to compare to Pulp Fiction for some dumb reasons. Other than the facts that both films are non-linear in structure and contain drugs, they have very little in common. What bugs me is when I read a review that says "Go pales in comparison to its cousin Pulp Fiction" or "Go owes a lot to Pulp Fiction". Go owes nothing to Pulp Fiction. I remember reading one comment in particular that said something like "the teens in Go are the kind of people who would grow up to be like the thugs in Pulp Fiction". That is a pretty ignorant comment, as Go is only trying to show that teens and young people do some stupid things. All teens do stupid things, maybe not like the things in this film, but you get the point. So I guess this means that all teens are likely to become thugs like in Pulp Fiction? There is one thing that may have been pulled out of Pulp Fiction: the film opens with a brief scene in a restaurant, a scene from the end of the film. Sound familiar to you Pulp Fiction fans?? Whether or not this was intentional, I have no clue. The point is that Go should not be compared to Pulp Fiction. Both are great films, however, I enjoyed Go a lot more, for different reasons, BECAUSE they are very different films.

Curse of the Puppet Master
(1998)

Why extend this series further?
The worst film in the Puppet Master series is also one of the worst films I have ever seen. This film is not even built off of the continuity established in previous episodes (which was also destroyed by the fourth and fifth installments). Speaking of continuity, 90% of the puppet footage is from the previous five Puppet Master films! And the new puppets look DIFFERENT from the older ones. The same puppeteers from the other films apparently worked on this one. The puppets are the only cool thing these movies have going for them, and these guys did do a nice job before, but they must not had much of a budget for this one. One scene in particular looks like the puppets are being held my sticks that partially appear on camera! And the acting, well its just no good at all, laughable at some points. The story is pointless as well. This is just a bad film and a bad installment for this series (not that the series was any good the begin with).

Star Tours
(1987)

Will be more enjoyable to a fan
You will enjoy this motion simulator ride a lot more if you have seen or are a fan of the Star Wars movies. There's not a lot of you, but I did ride this before I saw the films. I enjoyed it then as well. There are better motion simulator rides out there, but this one probably came first.
