Dinosaur
(2000)

Good film, although too much like The Land Before Time.
The graphics are wonderful, everything looks so real that was the first thing I noticed. I'm a sucker for these types of films. I love all the animated animal stories, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, Land Before Time the list goes on and on. However as I mention in my summary this film is too much like the Land Before Time. It has the same premise, Dinosaurs looking for the nesting grounds, the only remaining greenery. They even kill a Carnivor just like in TLBT. It ends on a happy note with the group all making it to the grounds. The end is a little predictable, however the film is likable, especially for kids.

Scrubs
(2001)

I just cant seem to get into it.
I dont know what it is, but I dont really find Scrubs that funny. People have compared it to 'Ally McBeal' and I can definately see the similarites with the day dreaming sequences, but the thing is those 'Ally' moments got so old in that show, I just find them annoying in this one.

I dont know why I cant get into it, everyone else seems to love it but I just dont see it. I never liked Seinfeld either, but I love Friends (the earlier, funnier years), Everybody loves Raymond and Will and Grace. I dont know, I'm going to keep watching but I'm not sure if my mind will change.

Beverly Hills, 90210: 10-Year High School Reunion
(2003)

The reunion I never thought would happen.
Its hard to believe that its been ten years since Brandon, Brenda, Dylan, Kelly, Steve, Andrea, Donna and David graduated High School. Its even harder to believe that there was actually a 10 year reunion organised, considering all the rumours of tantrums and infighting between cast members, mainly surrounding Shannon Doherty. That was the main reason I watched this special, to see if any of this came up, but naturally the question about Shannon's behaviour never did, perhaps it wasnt allowed too. I was shocked that Shannon even decided to do this show, seeing as I remember reading an interview with her a few years ago saying that she wouldnt want to do any reunion thing with the rest of the cast. I also remember reading an article about Jennie Garth where she stated that she didnt like Shannon. After viewing the reunion I do believe the latter. At the beginning when they all hugged each other, Shannon and Jennie didnt seem all that friendly towards each other, they hugged, but I think it was more for the cameras. Then when they all sat down Luke Perry sat in the middle of Shannon and Jennie and they barely said anything directly to one another.

I was also surprised that Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green didnt appear on the show, especially Tori seeing as her father did the show and she stayed on it right to the end. I found that a little odd, they should have all been there. It was nice to see the actors who played Mr and Mrs Walsh and Nat turn up right at the end as well.

There wasnt that much in the episode, the actors discussed their favourite episodes and moments, what fame was like and some off screen antics like Shannon taking Ian's on screen Corvette for a ride and having a little accident, and Luke accidently running over Jennie with a jet ski, knocking her unconcious. It was nice to see some of the old fashions back in the early 90s as well, oh it was awful.

Overall it was good to see the majority of the original cast back, unfortunately it didnt talk about what I and probably what most people wanted to hear about - was there any bad blood between the cast when Shannon walked out 10 years ago and was it all as bad as the magazines portrayed. I think they completely avoided asking these questions, and some of the friendliness was shown just for the cameras IMO. I hardly think that these guys would actually see each other anymore, its obvious that they hadnt seen each other for quite a long time so I doubt they would have remained close friends over the years.

X2
(2003)

A throughly enjoyable film.
I really enjoyed the first X-men even though I had never read the comics or watched the cartoons. I felt it was a good movie, but the sequel surpasses it quite easily. The opening sequence was spectacular, brilliant special effects and the sound was amazing (especially in the cinema)that alone is worth the price of admission. With new characters being introduced into the story it made the film more interesting and new and exciting powers were unleashed.

I liked the fact that the mutants had to work together in this film rather than work against each other like in the original. It added a whole new atmosphere to this film and distanced itself enough away from X-Men to not rehash the same stories.

In the end the film leaves us with the feeling that there is going to be another sequel, which I hear there will be and if the script is as good as this one than it will be a wonderful film and do very well Im sure.

I give it a 9

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
(2002)

Disappointing
My biggest complaint about the film has to be the awful chemistry between leading characters Padme and Annakin. I dont know if it was bad casting or mismanaged direction, perhaps it was the terrible dialog, but they just didnt work as a couple. This unfortunately dragged the entire film down. I expected a lot more with this film. The Phantom Menace fell well below expectations and Attack of the Clones did also, I'm hoping the third and final enstalment doesnt make it a trifecta.

I think that the original 3 films were far better in everyway that is most important: acting, directing and writing. AOTC's exceptional SFX doesnt save the film at all.

The Animatrix: Final Flight of the Osiris
(2003)
Episode 1, Season 1

Excellent, a must see for Matrix fans.
The only reason I went to see Dreamcatcher was to see Final flight of the Osiris! I was certainly not disappointed. At first I thought they were real people, the animation was brilliant. I thought it was just a nice little story. The crew just managing to post the information off in the Matrix just as the ship was destroyed in the real world. This really does get you even more excited about the Matrix sequels coming up.

Dreamcatcher was a wierd movie, not really worth the money, but see it just to see this short, you wont be disappointed:)

I give it a 10

Touched by an Angel
(1994)

Seriously corny..........but for some reason I cant help watching it!!
I have seen quite a few episodes of this show and I have no doubt that it is lame and corny, but I still watch it, I'm not sure why! I am not really a religious person, I do believe in God, but sometimes I just want to know that God is real. In this show these three angels tell their assignments who they are and what they are there for. I think I would love to actually meet an angel, then I would have the proof and no-one would really be afraid of death or of losing someone because they would know what would happen to them.

Anyway, back to the show. Some episodes are quite moving, sad even, so the writers can get one thing right. But like everyone I think the one thing I hate the most is near the end of an episode when Monica tells her assignment that 'I'm an angel sent from God to tell you that he loves you'. I absolutely cringe at that moment every single time and burst out laughing, it just sounds so corny. And I'm sorry but I cant stand that Della Reese. Oh my God the hair! Could someone please tell her that a big blob of grey hair over brown hair doesnt look any good. And I dont know why everyone on the show thinks she is such a good singer, I think she sounds awful. That song at the beginning of the show has got to go.

Overall the show is okay, but it is just too corny, especially if you arent a church goer.

The Sketch Show
(2001)

The most pathetic show on television!!
There is bad tv - and then there is this. I dont think I have seen such a load of crap in all my life. The sketch show is laughable, but the only thing you can laugh at is how pathetic these sketches really are. I watched an entire episode and didnt laugh once, what is British comedy coming to these days? If you want to compare this to another show, it would be like Australia's Fast Forward and Full Frontal, but unlike this show they were actually funny. Do not waste your time watching this nonsense!!

The Dead Zone
(2002)

Wonderful beginning, I'll be watching this from now on.
The Dead Zone premiered on Australian tv last night, in a good timeslot too, 8:30pm Monday, now lets just hope it stays there. I really didnt know much about this show, all I had read was the little preview in the tv guide which said that 'a man wakes up from a six year coma with the power of second sight'. But that was enough to make me watch it, and the fact that fellow IMDB users had given it the thumbs up. I have never read the book by Stephen King, so I think I am going to discover quite a few surprises in the near future. The first episode was very well made and introduced us to the characters very well, especially with the first scene showing us Johnny and Sarah when they were young kids' and Johnny's first encounter with his second sight. The premiere episode is so important, if I dont like it then I wont watch the show again, so it really has to grab me and The Dead Zone certainly did that. I was pleased with the actors' performances as well, there's nothing worse than a good show being let down by poor acting. I also loved the continuation at the end, leaves the viewers hanging out for next week. If you havent watched this show, give it a go, its certainly worth it. I give it a 9/10

Universal Soldier II: Brothers in Arms
(1998)

Absolutely terrible.........
AGH! I was lucky that I never spent money on hiring this out. I caught this about 1am a few months ago and decided to see it cause I had seen the first film and quite liked it. The only problem was I thought Van Damme was in this flick because I had seen a promo for it somewhere, now I know that there is another sequel (Um, how stupid is that anyway!!) This one was done before the Van Damme sequel so they must have decided they wanted a completely different storyline to end the Universal Soldier saga.

Anyway, back to this film. Well, I don't think I can really add much to what the others have said. Everything is just terrible, the acting, man that guy playing Luc is meant to act like he doesn't quite understand somethings, but he comes across as being so incredibly dumb! His fighting was appaling, the dialog was awful.......like I said, everything was shocking. Another thing I found so off-putting was how predictable this movie was. Just by looking at the title you know what its going to be about - and the eventual outcome as well.

If the original actors had been in this it would have been better, but it still wouldn't have made up for the terrible script. By all means please avoid this flick........and it's sequel cause that's just as bad!

Angel
(1999)

Sometimes you just cant forget when he was in Sunnydale!
When I first heard that Angel would be leaving Buffy the Vampire Slayer to do his own show, I had really mixed emotions. I was happy for David Boreanaz because he thouroughly deserved it, but I was also disappointed because I loved him in Buffy and I was worried the show wouldn't be as good without him. So when the next season of Buffy began I realised that it was as good even though Angel wasnt there. I of course watched the Angel premiere and I really liked it, and I have been watching it ever since.

However I must say that I feel Buffy is a better show than Angel. I have read other comments about Buffy making comedy episodes one week, then drama the next and not really knowing where it belongs, well I think Angel does exactly the same, but not to the same effect. Buffy can do comedy because the characters have always been funny, but Angel cannot, it just doesnt work in my opinion. Cordelia can get away with it, but Wesley, Gunn and certainly Angel cannot. In Buffy Angel was dark, mysterious, it made him so interesting to watch, but now in Angel he is using humour, which just doesnt fit with the mood of the show. Angel has on many occasions been called a dark dramatic show, so that's the mood it should stick with. After all, this isnt about a bunch of 20 year olds, as Buffy's about, this is a group of grown ups, all from different backgrouds, one being a vampire with a soul this should be darker, after all Angel is seeking redemption for all the terrible things he has done in the past.

I think the first two seasons were better than this third season we are seeing now. The idea of Angel having a son is utter rubbish, the new girl Fred is a pain in the arse and Wolfram and Hart being the centre of all the evil is really getting old. At least in Buffy they have different enemies as time goes by.

I think Angel is still an interesting character, but I feel that I liked him better when he was in Buffy. I guess I am one of those fans that loved the whole Buffy/Angel relationship and now it just seems that Joss Whedon is trying to forget all that by keeping the shows apart. I do watch the show, I still love it cause I am a loyal fan. For people who have never watched Buffy, or didnt follow it as religiously as I did from the beginning, then Angel is brilliant entertainment. But for me and some other fans I'm afraid somtimes you just cant forget when he was in Sunnydale

Two Thousand Acres of Sky
(2001)

Started off okay, but unravelled very quickly..spoilers.
The story is that Abby a .....well to me she looks like shes in her 40s, but I think she was meant to be in her 30s. Anyway it is about this woman who decides to take her two children away from the city and move to the country (yes, that old scenario again) and finds a small island that is wanting parents and young children to come because they need numbers to fill the school otherwise it will be shutdown. The only problem is they wanted a mother and a father and Abby is now a single parent. So she enlists her good friend Kenny to pretend to be her husband and her childrens father and move with them to the country. Well that's basically the story. But like I said this show began to unravel very quickly because the secret about Abby and Kennys false marrige was uncovered to the townsfolk far too early. In the end it just became about 'will Abby and Kenny actually get together?' It was very clear that Kenny had been in love with Abby right from the start.

There werent very many episodes of this done, it's probably a good thing because it was already going downhill and became very boring in the end. You're not really missing anything here. But you'll get a few laughs here and there if thats what you're looking for.

Full House
(1987)

My favourite as a child
I used to love this show growing up. Every week I'd plonk myself down in my fave chair and be enthralled for the entire episode. I loved all the characters, especially Joey and Jesse. Many great storylines, the fact that it revolved around this tight nit family is what made it great.

However when I saw a repeat around 2 years ago, I found it so lame and corny that I couldnt believe that I had loved it so much. This was a family show, but I couldnt believe that many adults actually liked this show. I'm an adult now and I dont think I could have been interested in watching it at my age. I think television has changed so much in the last 5 years that shows we used to love when we were younger now look pathetic.

Full House was a wonderful show for me when I was 10 and under, but like many things you grow up and now it doesnt appeal to me at all. I'm sure this is how many others feel as well.

Head of the Class
(1986)

Absolutely Awful.........
Oh My God, could this show be any worse? I think not!

How corny can you possibly get. The 80's certainly were the area of really lame, bad television shows, this being the worst of them all. I have absolutely no idea why Billy Connolly decided to join this show, but he must have been out of his mind. The acting is terrible, stories so pathetic and totally unrealistic. This show should be banished from TV land altogether, maybe they could burn the tapes, but something must be done to rid us of this crap.

Avoid at all costs!!!!!!!!!

Ally McBeal
(1997)

A once brilliant show that went downhill after 3 seasons.
I remember back in 1998 when I watched the 2 hour premiere of this show and instantly I loved it. Ally was a fun character and her imagination was entertaining, especially where you saw Elaines head expand when she talked. An interesting love story also seemed evident as Ally goes to work at the law firm that her high school ex boyfriend also works at. The fact that he was married to Georgia made this very entertaining and had the audience on the edge of their seats wondering if he would go back to Ally. The characters were all interesting and different from each other and in time new characters joined like Nelle and Ling. Both brought something to the show and made it even better.

I think one of the starting points of Ally's downfall was when Billy (Ally's ex) died. That spelled the end for their relationship and that whole sequence leading up to his death was a bit wierd anyway, he went completely nuts, but I guess it was because of the brain tumour.

The inclusion of James Le Gros' character seemed completely pointless and by the 4th season there were too many characters and not enough storylines to go around. John became just too weird (the room behind the toilet was just far-fetched and stupid) his girlfriend (played by Anne Heche)lived in an old elevator - totally lame! For the entire 4th season I felt stupid watching this show because the storylines were just too out there. The only thing keeping the show alive was Robert Downey Jr's drug scandals and being fired from the show, that made headlines around the world. The fifth season hasnt aired in Australia yet, I doubt channel 7 will be in a hurry either. I will watch it when it finally does air, but I dont expect to see much of an improvement.

It is sad to see that this once great show has completely hit rock bottom and in the space of only one to two years! The blame can only be pointed at David E. Kelley. He had a good thing going - this show won awards. I think he became too greedy, he wanted to do as many shows as he could by also having The Practice and then Boston Public. He lost interest in Ally McBeal and let it turn to absolute crap! I heard that when the cast and crew were told that the show had been axed Calista jumped for joy - she was glad it was over because she saw how bad it had become.

If you ever come across the re-runs of the 1st 2nd and 3rd seasons I recommend you to see them because you will find them funny. But forget the rest, it isnt really worth watching.

Season 1-3: 8/10 Season 4: 3/10

Farscape
(1999)

I cannot believe Australia's channel 9 has dumped this fab show!
Farscape was a joint production with the Jim Henson company/Hallmark entertainment and Channel 9 Australia, but seeing as Channel 9 is no longer airing this show, I dont know what has happened to it. In December last year it seems that Australian audiences saw the last chance to see Farscape on free to air TV, as it was reported later that Channel 9 no longer has the rights for it. Well no wonder. They aired this show no earlier than 10:30pm and kept changing the days from month to month that it was amazing anyone would have been able to keep up with it. They also missed episodes, then went back to them so it was all out of order. This show did not deserve that bad treatment and lack of respect. With the amount of money spent on producing the series you'd think they would have given it a decent timeslot.

Well, now that I have had a winge about the station, I'll just say how much I love Farscape. This is without a doubt the best Sci-fi space series ever to have been made. I have found it much more enjoyable than the Star Trek series, Babylon 5 and anything else in the category. The characters are so interesting, and the best part is that they are forever changing. Just when you think that you've worked them all out, one of them will do something that is totally out of character that you have to change your opinions all over again. The show has developed an amazing baddie in Scorpious, the costume is incredibly scary looking and his personality is frightening. The addition of a living, breathing ship is a fabulous idea, it brings a whole new level to the show with so many stories evolving like the birth of the ships baby.

And like many other brilliant shows Farscape has a love story to keep every fan on the edge of their seat. The relationship between John Chrichton and Aeryn Sun has gone through many ups and downs. We have seen both characters, particulary Aeryn, change because of it, and it has been so wonderful to watch, they have tremendous chemistry. The fact that every character is a different species allows for some really strange, but interesting stories to evolve between them.

I have only seen the first two season, and from what I have heard they are already in a 4th, so I have a lot of catching up to do. Unfortunately the only way it seems that I, and fellow pay -tv free Aussies will be able to catch up will be by video and DVD, however who knows when that will be released in Australia. Anyway, if you havent tuned in to Farscape, I advise you to do so. You may find it a little out-there at first, but I guarantee that you will come to enjoy it if you give it a chance!!

One of the best shows on TV. I give it a 10/10.

Night & Day
(2001)

Dull, boring and slow!
I've seen at least 5 episodes of this show and everyone has been absolutely awful. The worst part are the terrible characters, none of whom are likeable. The stories drag on and it is certainly not a production that you cant wait to see. Maybe I am the wrong age to enjoy this show, my mother watches it, but she too finds it weird, creepy and too slow. There are far better British shows around then this rubbish. In short try and avoid - at all costs!

Cupid
(1998)

A beautifully written show and craftly acted by Piven and Marshall.
I'm glad Im not the only Australian who thought this was a fantastic show. When I first started watching this show I began to feel that it was better than a lot of other shows that are screened in the prime time slots, whilst Cupid was shunned to midday, Monday to Friday, when most people would be out at work. This show deserved so much more credit than that, however I was not surprised when I just read that it had been cancelled because all the good shows seem to get the axe over in America. Can someone please tell me why that is so? This was a brilliantly acted and wonderfully written show, with all the stories being interesting and unpredictable. I dont know how many episodes of this show were made, but I do think that it should have been picked up by another station because it deserved a second chance. If anyone out there gets the chance to see this show, then I advise you to take this chance with open arms because I doubt you'll receive another one.

I give it a 9 out of 10 and hope to see the actors in some excellent future products!!

The Matrix
(1999)

Comment based on all aspects of the film.
After seeing the Matrix two weeks ago on video, I realised that I missed so much by not seeing at the cinema. I found the movie to have an excellent script that kept me interested for the whole 2 hours and even more. I had no idea what the Matrix was until I saw the film, so I am very greatful that none of my friends or spoilers on the internet revealed the secret to me before my viewing. I am an Australian so I am very proud to say that this film was made down here with Australian crew and cast members. I am very pleased to see Keanu Reeves in a film that is good as and even better than Speed. Keanu was great as Neo and I also thought that Carrie-anne Moss suited her character, Trinity, right down to the bone.

I was enthralled every second of the movie and it was very unpredictable which made it even better.
