Ein Mädchen aus Paris
(1954)

Girl leaves job in city for quiet life as farmer
A good movie, and funny, and rich. It is about a girl who leaves her stressful work in the city as a computer maven. She embarks upon a two year long course towards becoming a farmer. After graduating at the top of her class, and seeing the courses through, to her mother's dismay, she is taken to a farm and paired up with an old widower selling his farm in the mountains. She buys the farm, and advertises it on the internet as a sort of B & B to get away and enjoy the beautiful countryside. The girl must deal with her relationships - with her Mom, her ex-boyfriend, the farmer, and his friend. Even though there were some gruesome shots of animals being killed in the first part of the film, thankfully that was all there was of those scenes. It is a delightful film, and even though it was in French with English sub-titles, it is a universal story that could have taken place anywhere.

Crash
(2004)

Thought provoking film.
Even though it has been several days since I saw this movie, I am still thinking about the lessons of the stereotypes portrayed within. Not just racial, but cultural, and within race, and neighborhoods, etc. What a wonderful movie. Definitely the best I have seen so far this year! It was nothing like what I thought it would be like, either. I don't remember hearing about or seeing any advertising for when it came out. I heard Oprah mention once on TV in passing. All she said was the tag line. This movie gets you thinking about your own values, and what you might do in specific situations. What do you do when you see someone coming? How do you view people?

Bad Boys II
(2003)

Action Packed, Fun
This movie lesft me feeling anxious during much of the movie, since the chase scenes were so long. (time wise) It was funny, entertaining, and basic fluff - just what I expected! Worth seeing for thrills and laughs. Some strong graphics, though. (Body parts)

My First Mister
(2001)

Surprisingly Good!
I rented this movie last night, and was pleasantly surprised. I recognized the director's name, Albert Brooks, and Mary Kay Place, so I took a chance. My boyfriend told me I had done well to choose this one! I will recommend it to my friends. This is what having family and friends is really all about. Take the risk to know someone... : )

About Schmidt
(2002)

I was expecting a comedy...
There was not one scene in this movie where there was light - natural or otherwise. It was overcast, grey, cloudy, and depressing! Sure, it was funny in parts. But to classify this as a comedy?!

The acting was wonderful, and the ending sad and yet happy. One little part. Aurgh!

I am glad that I saw it thinking it was a comedy, and because of the actors in it, because I doubt I would have wanted to see it consciously knowing what it was all about!

I should have read all the reviews first...
